Apple Significantly Increases Prices In Many Countries

Posted March 10, 2015 at 6:00am by iClarified
Apple significantly raised its prices in many countries today including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, France, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Portugal, and others. The price increase is to adjust for the stronger U.S. dollar.

Taking Canada as an example, Apple has increased the price of the iPhone 6 from $749-$969 to $839-$1099. That's an increase of 12%-13.4%. Currently, 1 USD = 1.26 CAD. Comparing the starting price of the iPhone 6 in the U.S. ($649) to the new price in Canada ($839), the difference is 29.3%.

Apple also increased prices of its other devices including the Thunderbolt Display ($999 to $1199 CAD) and 15-inch Retina MacBook ($2099-$2699 to $2449-$3049 CAD).

If you're planning to purchase an Apple device, take a look at your online Apple Store to see if its price has changed.

Or because Apple is increasing its quality with products thereby paying for more durable material.

no the value of their currency is a lot lower compared to USD so for Apple to make the same amount of money in terms of king dollar - the prices has to be raised. #education

Apple needs more cash to fund that iCar project. I think Apple's customers are more than happy to give Apple more money, eventhough Apple's profit is on an all time high.

Or gearing up newer improved products from before and having prices increased to have us believe that.

It's always funny to read other companies fanboys comment on Apple. A you (probably don't) know, all products from China or Taiwan are traded in US dollars, as you (probably don't) know, the US dollar is currently at its strongest point in history, for example from 1,4 €/$ to 1,1 €/$ and still growing.

looks like it's a good excuse for Canadians to head across the border for a bit.

You really need Apple to give you a reason to leave Canada? Isn't Canada a good enough reason to leave?

You do realize that the exchange rate practically makes the price the same at this point?

Yes Peter you are correct, as a matter of fact Canada is one of the most sought after countries to live in. I wouldn't say people flock, but that's your choice of words.
