Early Benchmarks for the New 12-Inch Retina MacBook [Chart]

The first benchmarks of the new 12-inch Retina MacBook surfaced on Geekbench today. The benchmarks of the yet to be released notebook were deleted shortly thereafter but not before being spotted by some observant users.

MacRumors notes that scores for the new device are similar to that of the 2011 MacBook Air.

The 1.1GHz entry-level Retina MacBook with an Intel Core M-5Y31 processor was benchmarked twice, giving two single-core scores of 1924 and 2044, and multi-core scores of 4038 and 4475. Comparatively, the 2015 entry-level MacBook Air with a 1.6GHz Intel Core i5 processor has seen scores in the neighborhood of 2881 (single-core) and 5757 (multi-core), so it's a good bit faster than the new MacBook.

Despite similar CPU speeds, the new MacBook should outperform the 2011 MacBook Air based on superior graphics performance and better solid state storage. The notebook goes on sale April 10th starting at $1,299.

Just ran on my Mid 2013 MBA got 2400 / 4600 but with 32 bit trial version. Had Safari open though. Prob should rerun with it closed .. 3 tabs open

Can I connect HDMI to this? Apparently not coz you'll need to buy a $599/adapter only for HDMI and need some more for other peripheral devices even their own lightning cable isn't capable of connecting by default.... And the performance? Meh not worth that $1k dollars.... SMH, better get me 3x better spec'd notebook for half the price of this...

Can you find a cord that actually does do the job without adapter? Yes coz you can buy that far less than an adapter and still get the job done and need wireless related stuff to have other devices with it. Why need lightning anyway? And performance? Hell yes. With an external ssd, problem solved and worth the $1k! SMW,, better get it even if I win one for free.

jesus. You can probably get a nee 2011 MBA for less than $500. And it'll perform same as $1300 MB. Plus you dont need to buy extra $70 dongles to plug in your iPhones to your laptop.

Christ! You can get the old school outdated stuff even at less price! And it won't last long like any premium made notebooks today. Plus you can spend less than $70 for accessories to charge your iPhone without the laptop, but moving content to it? Use icloud. There is a reason wireless makes it better than finding the right cord just to connect it to anything.

Big fail indeed. Totally useless idea to bring it. Instead they cud hv used these technologies to update macbook air to retina display.
