Samsung Has a Team of 200 Employees Working Exclusively on Displays for Apple

Samsung has reportedly created a team of about 200 employees that work exclusively on screens for Apple devices, reports Bloomberg.

The team at Samsung Display Co., which provides screens for iPads and MacBooks, helps develop products and is only allowed to share information about Apple business within the group, the people said, asking not to be identified because the details aren’t public. The team formed April 1 and also helps with sales, the people said.

Despite the two companies fighting a very public battle in courts, Apple has utilized Samsung's display and semiconductor units to supply parts for its devices.

“The new exclusive team for Apple implies that the relationship between Samsung and Apple has improved,” said Jerry Kang, an analyst at IHS Inc. “This also suggests that Samsung Display will win screen orders from Apple, such as for the Apple Watch.”

Recent reports claim Apple is planning to use low power-high resolution oxide thin film transistor (TFT) panels for its next generation iPads. It's said that they will source these panels from LG, Samsung, and Sharp.

Notably, LG, a rival supplier, also has a separate unit focused primarily on business with Apple.

Samsung is also tipped to be as the manufacturer of the A9 chip next generation of Apple that will power the future iPhone and iPad. may be that this operation will strengthen ties between the two technology giants and the big rivals in the smartphone market.

Isnt this obvious? Actually 200 employees for big manufacturing project(Apple AX chip) is not even big. idk what the comment below me talking about but manufacturing partner relationship is totally different area with smart phone competitors. If Apple lose Samsung for making chips or screens, Apple will have hard time finding good manufacturer to suit their demands and qualities. If Samsung lose Apple, Samsung will lose chunk of profits. So its both win-win for having these relationship. idk about smart phones though.

the comment below meant that Samsung is b1tching about everything Apple does when they did nothing to them and that Samsung realizes they need them to survive but continuing the b1tching may cause a breakup between them, about chips though, Apple once used TSMC (which can do fine for them to as an alternate to Samsung) to help them with nM in chips which involves how small the chip can be while being powerful, phone wise, just know this: whatever iPhone gets, Samsung copies.
