Latest iOS 8.4 Beta Fixes Messages Crashing Bug

Posted by · 6407 views · Translate
iOS 8.4 beta 4, which Apple released yesterday, seems to fix the bug that caused the messages app to crash when receiving a specific text.

For those of you unfamiliar with the bug, when receiving a certain series of unicode characters, the Messages app would immediately crash. In some cases, you would be locked out of your Messages app since it would keep crashing, unless you sent yourself a message. You can see a demonstration of the bug on video here. The bug was tied to the way banner notifications displayed to text and even expanded to third party apps like Snapchat.

Apple had posted a temporary solution for the bug and informed iClarified that a fix via a software update was coming soon.

iOS 8.4 will launch on June 30 alongside Apple Music.

Thanks Antonio for the tip!

Jobs or not changes nothing - June 10, 2015 at 8:58pm
I'm hear to inform "we miss you jobs" user in case you show up, I told you so. See what happens being ignorant?
I'm back....lol - June 10, 2015 at 9:20pm
What in the F*** are you talking about?- "I told you so"????? Also...ignorant? I doubt you could properly define that word. In any case...my point in that post was that in the days of Mr. Jobs, a fix would have been pushed out the next day. This took over a week!!!! As in it would have been much sooner. As in it would not have been a problem this long. As in Mr. Job's passion for perfection is lost to us now in the Apple community. Do you not remember how quickly problems like this were fixed when he was alive? Fixes for problems like these were pushed out in HOURS...not days or weeks. NOW THEY ARE NOT!!!! Do you finally understand what I was trying to say? I don't know if you are a non-English-speaking person using a translator or not, but I can say that you DEFINITELY did not read my post in the context which it was clearly written. Whether that is due to a crappy translating program or just to your general stupidity I guess I will just have to wonder. In closing, I will say that saying to me "I told you so" is about the most backwards thing you could possibly say, idiot. In fact...I told YOU so...fuktard. ROTFLMFAO...AT YOU!!!!
I miss you Mr. Jobs.... - June 10, 2015 at 9:24pm
Ignorance? That is displayed in your own post by spelling "here" wrong... 'nuff said...lol
You're back for but hurt - June 10, 2015 at 9:28pm
You told me so my ass! You can rant on with blind jealousy all you want while riding on my wiener 24/7. What difference does it make for bugs to be fixed on hours? Jailbreak offers fixes to so let alone them, bugs are still being done, but for me, it's little to no bug on nearly every update! I told you so in forever before you were gullible enough to believe you're so overhyped enough to feel overachieved of yourself. Who gives a flipping f*ck about it already? You can't learn to face shit. It's not like one tiny change in fixing stuff isn't doing even the biggest harm. Nothing ever stops Apple from doing anything Jobs or not. You can rain diarrhea dumps all you want, but none of them will prove a damn because nothing has changed in anything but time it takes to fix. ROTFFLMFAOXDXDXDXDXDXDXDXDX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The post above me was written by an idiot - June 10, 2015 at 10:02pm
No bugs you say? You truly are an idiot. iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite have been the worst versions to be released to date. That fact is even admitted by Apple and is being addressed in iOS 9 and OS X El Capitan's development. If you don't believe me....use that "masturbation machine" to actually research these FACTS instead of using it to jerk off. FACT: Since his passing, iOS has become more bug-ridden. So has OS X. FACT: The iPhone 5(c) was a concept (cheaper "budget model" iPhone) that Jobs was staunchly against...and guess what? It was a HUGE fail!!! That is just a couple of instances...search around and educate yourself...there are COUNTLESS more!!! He was a complete perfectionist and control freak who demanded perfection in ALL aspects of his company. That didn't bode well for his employees, but it DEFINITELY did for the consumer. A LOT has changed at Apple since his passing, and almost none of it has been for the better. It has actually come to Apple stating that their newer OS's are going to focus on stability. That is the one thing that in the time of Mr. Jobs that was a constant...and the staple of Apple products. They just worked. They did what they were supposed to do when you wanted them to do it. That path has been strayed from. You can't tell me that is not a fact. It's a WELL KNOWN FACT. As for the jailbreak statement....THERE IS NO PUBLIC JAILBREAK FOR iOS 8.3 AND NEWER!!! So how does that even factor in to this discussion? How about fixes for people who would rather explore betas or not have their device compromised by a jailbreak? My GOD you are a complete MORON!!! I could go on and on, but arguing with someone as stupid as you are is pointless. For you to say that the software and Apple itself are just as good without Jobs as they were with him is just plain RIDICULOUS! It reflects your intellect and knowledge of Apple and it's products. I feel dumber for having even stooped to your level and debated this with you. I'm done here. It's pointless arguing with an idiot such as you. I'm sure that anyone who reads this will agree with me.....with maybe the exception of you
