Apple Plans to Increase iTunes Match Song Limit to 100,000 for iOS 9

Apple is planning to increase the song limit of its iTunes Match feature from 25,000 to 100,000 for iOS 9, according Apple SVP Eddy Cue.

Cue revealed the plan in a tweet on Friday.

iTunes Match determines which songs in your library are available in the iTunes Store. Any music with a match is automatically added to iCloud for you to listen to anytime, on any device. For the songs that aren’t, iTunes uploads what it can’t match (which is much faster than uploading your entire music library).

When asked if Apple Music subscribers will still need to pay the $25/year fee for iTunes Match, Cue said the "same basic features of uploading the tracks in your lib we don’t have is part of Apple Music"

Cue was then asked if Apple Music has the same 25,000 song limit as the standalone iTunes Match service currently has. He replied:

25k for launch and working to get to 100k for iOS 9

Apple Music launches with iOS 8.4 on Tuesday, June 30th at 8am PT. Please follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for more details.
