Apple has seeded a second beta of OS X 10.11 El Capitan to public beta testers. The beta follows a developer release of El Capitan Beta 4.

OS X El Capitan refines the Mac experience and improves system performance. Building on last year's landmark release of OS X Yosemite, El Capitan introduces enhancements to window management, built-in apps and Spotlight search, and makes everyday activities—from launching apps to accessing email—faster and more responsive. Metal, Apple’s breakthrough graphics technology, is integrated into El Capitan delivering system-wide performance gains and enabling games and pro apps to tap into the full power of Mac graphics processors.

I don't have a newer computer. Mine is a MBP 2009 which I try very hard to keep going. And I count on Apple to keep supporting older machines, but I know one of these days they won't. There is a new bill being proposed which I supported in NYS called the Fix IT bill or something like that which proposes making parts available so ordinary people can fix their own computers when they age.. I haven't had too many problems with Yosemite, Most of my complaints are with certain designs and taking away other features that were working well and which I really liked. I'll just wait until the new system comes out and hope it works on my computer without a hitch.

I would love to beta test this, but only if you send me or loan me another computer. I'm not going to take a chance testing this before all the bugs are out of it and possible "screw up" my computer that I use everyday. There are a lot of issues I have had with Yosemite and a couple systems before and I doubt if my suggestions will be heard. But I'd like to see if maybe some changes will be made... like the eyeglass column which is almost useless to me. It use to have icons there to easily recognize the site, and now it is all words and hard to read down the list. And the icons that come up on Safari under the spot where one writes in an address is SOOOOOOO ANNOYING. If you don't get rid of it, at least let us turn it off!!!!

I'm currently using a 2015 Retina Display MacBook Pro, there were only a few bugs with the first public release but this second release has really got a lot of the bugs worked out and I hardly notice it at all. Would definitely recommend if you have newer hardware :) and I'm not sure why so many people were having problems with Yosemite, I had a 2013 Retina MacBook Pro which worked fine with Yosemite after upgrading from Mavericks so I think it was a hit and a miss with some people. However this public beta of El Capitan works great and I use it on my everyday computer.
