iPhone Stops Bullet During Armed Robbery [Video]

Posted September 2, 2015 at 10:02pm by iClarified
A Fresno State student was saved by his iPhone when it stopped a bullet during an armed robbery.

The victim who lived at the Campus Edge Apartments was followed home by a criminal late Monday night. The gates to the apartment complex were left open and so the criminal was able to get inside to mug the student.

Faris Alotaibi, the victim's roommate said, "He took a gun, after he took the backpack of my roommate, and he shot him in the leg but my roommate is very lucky. I looked at his jeans and it was torn open. He showed me the phone, the bullet was very clear, destroyed it and broke it into pieces."

Moments after the gunshot, a man in a ski mask ran past nearby resident Rebecca Goss.

"He said, 'get out of my way, get out of my way,' so we moved out of the way and he took off through the open gate," Goss said.

Notably, this isn't the first time an iPhone has been credited for stopping a bullet. An iPhone 5c may have saved a man's life after it stopped much of a shotgun blast to his abdomen.

Goss blames the gates for the incident which have been open day and night for the past few weeks due to a card key issue. The problem has been resolved and the gates are closed but students are still concerned for their safety.

Alotaibi's roommate, the victim, has already left town.

"He is no longer interested in Fresno, he wants to drop all the courses and he will never come back," Alotaibi said.

Investigators are still searching for the gunman who witnesses say is a big guy, roughly, 5'10 and 170 pounds.

I was walking down Japan during a visit and out of no where a ninja with a sword shows up intending to cut me up. Without hesitation, I pulled out my iPhone 6+ and told him, "But first, let's take Selfie", damn right it saved my life.

The article was just pointing out how iPhone saved someone's life, not how someone got the gun or how he used it at a wrong time. The guys here thought of how the gun was obtain and handled itself compared to that.

Umm, excuse me, but Gun control is not just about removing them from stores, but reducing the number of guns that are even available. Where did this criminal get the gun? not legally, yes, but probably stolen from an average citizen or a relative who legally purchased the gun. By having people own their own guns, criminals can easily steal one. If there are no guns and no private gun owners there is a way smaller chance of a criminal getting one. And don't quote the constitution here, because it states that citizens "have Arms for their Defence suitable to their Conditions and as allowed by Law ," meaning it is not an unalienable law, but can be revoked or changed suitable to current law. If you actually READ the constitution you will see that guns are not a magic thing we can all have, and that they are a dangerous weapon that should be possessed by no one. Thank you.

It did set an apartment on fire. Imagine how a bullet would cause this or similar effects.
