It's been rumored that Apple is working on a smaller 4-inch iPhone 6c. Designer Martin Hajek has created renders that show what that device might look like.

Size does matter, but a smaller iPhone 6s…now that would be interesting! Based on my highly detailed 3D model of the iPhone 6 (you can download it here) I have had a closer look at a possible, smaller iPhone 6c.

Take a look at the images below and let us know what you think in the comments!

A 6c would have to be lower cost and colourful, meaning a 5s with a plastic back would make more sense, wouldn't you agree? ps if you need to unlock your old iPhone to sell ahead of the new launch, we can help do that for you. ;-)

An iPhone sold a year ago with a plastic back compared to the 6c coming up? How does this add up when the names end with different letters and these two phones are 2 years apart from different release dates?

You've got to be kidding! The last "C" in bright colors did so well they had to take it right back off the market. iPhones are in a premium market. If it isn't top notch professional tech then why Apple? I know I don't want a phone that looks like I borrowed it from my kid! ...and yes, I think in Apple's exuberance to jump on the phablet bandwagon they abandoned much of their core market. Without the return of a ~4 inch screen I (an Apple "fanboy") will be looking elsewhere after years of brand loyalty.

they took it off the market because the 5s is now free.

Good point. My beef is I still want a 4" screen with all the bells and whistles. I don't want a bright or cheap version. I want a professional upgrade to my 5s and I'm holding on to it til it dies (& I'm forced to buy elsewhere: assuming there's any small option) or Apple comes through. I still fit in skinny jeans. I don't want a skateboard in my pocket, and I don't want a toy (admittedly my perception) in a management meeting. I get frustrated with the seemingly common perception that if someone doesn't want to hold a sandwich up to their head that they want a cut-rate phone.

My point is that 5c was made to be more affordable even if people so want the upgrades. It not like Apple had a choice for people wanting the new iPhones now.

It sounds nice, but I don't think that they are going to make it

It has been said some time beginning next year it would be planned to come.

The question is, are they going to do what they did last year and discontinue the 5s in favor of the 6c? A lot of people still prefer the 5s design (not me) and probably would be dissappointed.

I would say having a smaller version of a current generation would cheapen the line. They should introduce this when a new redesign is out. The 5s outsold the 5c by huge margins and almost had the c line shut down.

You do know 5c outsold 5s in most areas. Despite what reviews say of it, I don't see how it's going to affect anything? It's still giving what people can afford compared to those still wanting the 6s or 6s plus.

The only way it will cheapen things is if Apple goes with the plastic housing, giving it that hideously cheap look and feel of an Android. While it may still be an iPhone on the inside, wrapping all that beautiful hardware up in a plastic shell just isn't befitting to an iPhone. Doesn't do it justice. When Apple moved away from plastic housings with the introduction of the iPhone 4, they made an iconic statement with its design. Regressing from that metal and glass sturdy look and feel is only taking a step backwards...and going backwards isn't what Apple has EVER been about.

I said in the above post that going backwards isn't what Apple has EVER been about, and that was a mis-statement. That's exactly what they did with the 5(c), and while some people may love that phone (@Nat), most die-hard Apple fans hated it. Myself included. Having a 4" iPhone 6(s) with a housing made of the same materials as the regular 6(s) and the 6(s) Plus would get me to be a consumer and move away from my 5(s). If it is plastic, I will hold on to my 5(s).

I miss my 5S so much that if the 6C will have the same specs as the 6S ( beside the size ) it will make my day!!! Yes I'm walking around with my 128GB iPhone 6 which was a mistake, I should have kept my 5S for one more year. For a phone 4 inch is a perfect size and when I want to surf the net or play games I use my 128GB/LTE iPad Air, once you use an iPad for games or pretty mucH anything else beside using it as a phone you will never want to play on a phone any more , the iPad is a perfect potable playing device and much much more that only people that experience it know what I'm talking about.

That's why I always hold on to the s models until the next one comes out even if a I wait more than 2 years. S versions are always an improvement to their predecessor.

Same here, i totally agree with you sir.

Wow, I actually agree with you for once, Nat. Keeping an "s" version instead of the original release version is by far the wiser choice. The 3G(s) got GPS, the 4(s) got Siri, the 5(s)-IMHO, the best iPhone to date-got 64-bit architecture. The track record for the "s" models speaks for itself, let's just hope Apple continues this trend.

Um actually... It's going to be the 6s plus, the 6s and the 6s minus
