Posted September 16, 2015 at 4:06pm by iClarified
Apple has announced that it is delaying the release of watchOS 2 due to a bug.

“We have discovered a bug in development of watchOS 2 that is taking a bit longer to fix than we expected,” an Apple spokesperson told TechCrunch. “We will not release watchOS 2 today but will shortly.”

Apple is still expected to release iOS 9 to the public today. Please follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for updates.

I'm not sure what bug it is (the argument about the servers not being able to scale for both iOS and WatchOS seems plausible)--I'm betting it has to do with the wireless only update, and being unable to roll back without a diagnostic cable. Can you imagine Apple bricking a bunch of $500+ devices with an "update"? Either that, or it no longer tells time.

unbelievable, and from a company as big and respected as apple! they have been working on this OS for 5 months now, they announce it 3 months in advance and yet there are still huge bugs in the software on the day they are supposed to be releasing it! makes one think where all those billions are going! if they hadn't announced a release date, one could understand but! wow! simply just wow!

It's their 2nd watch OS. Give them a break. At least we still have the great executed watch OS 1 before any more surprises come from OS 2. All the wait may pay off.

So, what happens to those with iOS 9 on the phone and WatchOS 1 on the watch? I have just installed the iOS 9 and the pairing was gone. Tried to pair it once and got an error. As I did a clena install of the iOS 9, I will wait for all apps to download (hours and hours to go) before attempting to pair again. Wish me luck.

WatchOS 1.X will work with iOS 9. I'm running 9.1 with WatchOS 1.1 with no issues. I've been running them well over two months now.

Will WatchOS 1.x work with iOS 9?

The only reason I am updating to iOS 9 is for watchOS 2, so I can set my own wallpaper for a watch face.
