Touch ID Speed Test: iPhone 6s vs. iPhone 6 vs. iPhone 5s [Video]

Posted September 28, 2015 at 1:02am by iClarified
Watch this Touch ID Speed Test comparing the time it takes to unlock your iPhone using Touch ID on the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 5s.

As you can see from the video, the iPhone 6s is faster than the previous generation iPhones. While a third of a second doesn't sound like much, it's noticeably quicker when using the device.

If you've got the iPhone 6s, let us know what you think of the improved Touch ID sensor in the comments.

If it's not an iPhone it's not an iPhone.

Insanely fast! Frustration comes when I want to unlock my iPad Air 2 now. I can definitely feel the difference.

Click the Home Button with your finger nail, works great every time.

This can't be right.... I have a 6s Plus and it unlocks Waaaaaaaayyy faster than the 6 plus. If I take the phone out of my pocket and click the home button with my finger on it, it goes straight to the home screen. All you have to do is tap the home button to unlock it... 6 plus is no where near as fast, maybe 5 times slower and you have to hold your finger. this it a pretty dodgy test...

You've got some dodgy timer. The 6 was definitely a bit faster than the 5s...

Actually it wasn't. Look at the status bar. It finished loading after the SpringBoard on the iPhone 6.

What's stupid about that? besides it looks like it instantly turns on before the whole lock screen brightens up on the 6s.

Insanely fast. It's almost annoying how I can't get my phone out of my pocket and check all the recent notifications without it instantly opening up to the home screen.

Same here. I've had to start using a different finger to press the home button when I just want to see the notifications on the lock screen. It is noticeably quicker and much more accurate than it was on the 5s and 6.

Hopefully the speed doesn't get worse as time moves on like it did with the previous generation iPhones but so far it's looking good for me on my 6s plus

my 5s still works flawless since launch day. as long as touch id doesn't get dirty, it wont slow down or misread.
