Apple Pay Launches in Australia With AMEX

Posted November 18, 2015 at 11:51pm by iClarified
Apple Pay has launched in Australia in partnership with American Express. The launch follows the debut of Apple Pay in Canada earlier this week.

Unfortunately, Apple was unable to come to an agreement with banks in Canada or Australia so just a limited number of AMEX card holders will be able to use the service.

We'll let you know if Apple is able to expand its support for other cards and banks in the near future. Please follow iClarified on Twitter, Facebook, or RSS for updates.

Apple Pay will expand to Hong Kong, Singapore, and Spain in 2016.

Honestly I don't know why Apple bothered. AMEX is the least favoured credit card in Australia, has the highest fees and accepted in the least number of locations. Visa and MasterCard are the two to get on board - get your act together Apple.

So you agree that just having AMEX is a real move forward for Apple Australia Pty. Ltd.?
