Apple Music Reaches 10 Million Subscribers in Just 6 Months

Apple Music has surpassed 10 million subscribers just six months after its debut, reports the Financial Times. That's a number that took Spotify six years to reach.

“It’s good news that Apple is making streaming work but it is also going to accelerate the decline of downloads,” said Mark Mulligan, a music industry analyst with Midia Research. At its current growth rate, Apple has “the potential to be the leading music subscription service sometime in 2017.”

In the U.S., download sales are declining quickly. Album download sales dropped 9% in 2014 and individual track download sales dropped 12%. However, demand for streaming increased 50% during that period with 164 billion songs streamed.

Spotify announced in June that it had reached 20 million subscribers out of 75 million monthly listeners. That number is likely to have increased through the end of the year as a Spotify has been ranking high on the App Store charts.

Apple Music had a rocky launch but the company has been working to improve the service. Six months in have you tried it? Are you still using Apple Music or have you turned to another streaming music service? Let us know in the comments!

This so-called lie is the exact opposite. Good luck brainwashing others into listening to yourselves.

And 99% of subscribers are free trials. Personally I do use Apple Music fairly often. But that's only because I know what I'm listening to. Most of people around me cancel the Apple Music subscription after the trial and gets YouTube red instead. Apple needs to step up for real

In your dreams. If nobody wants an iOhone with a headphone jack just ignore it. Simple as that hence the fact iPhone 5e (5s refresh) and a 6c is coming so it's not completely the end of the Jack even by the fact IPad and macs haven't gotten rid of it or prepared to currently.

Hate it. Tried it and wanted to like it but it seems best suited for a larger screen like an iPad. Also setting up the family plan was a nightmare. Spotify isn't perfect but the interface is better and it's easier to manage.
