Hackers Are Trying to Bribe Apple Employees for Their Login Details

Hackers Are Trying to Bribe Apple Employees for Their Login Details

Hackers are offering Apple employees in Ireland thousands of euros for their login details, reports BusinessInsider.

An employee spoke to the site on the condition of anonymity.

"You'd be surprised how many people get on to us, just random Apple employees," the source said. "You get emails offering you thousands [of euros] to get a password to get access to Apple.

"I could sell my Apple ID login information online for €20,000 (£15,000 / $23,000) tomorrow. That's how much people are trying."

Another former employee confirmed the claim...

"They look for someone who has jumped diagonally into a junior managerial position, so not a lifer working their way up, and not a lifer who has been there a long time".

Notably, Apple has launched a 'scheme' called "Grow Your Own" as a response to the problem, though the name is a mystery. It's unclear what exactly the hackers are after but they could be going after intellectual property, corporate strategies, and more.

Apple was contacted about the report but has yet to comment.

Apple should let them sell their credentials, but clean up the employees account first and set them up with a new one. Then their employees can make some extra cash and Apple can see who is trying to get in and why, so they can make themselves more secure. Although if hackers are resorting to bribery, that speaks volumes for the security at Apple.
