Apple to Unveil 20 - 40% Thinner Apple Watch at WWDC in June?

Posted April 8, 2016 at 3:35pm by iClarified
Apple is preparing to unveil a 20 - 40% thinner Apple Watch as early WWDC in June, according Brian White, an analyst at Drexel Hamilton. The analyst is currently on a Chinese tech tour.

We walked away with the sense that the Apple Watch refresh will not occur in September with the iPhone 7, but is more likely to occur within the next 2-3 months, and thus we believe an unveiling at WWDC in June makes sense. We believe Apple Watch 2 could be 20-40% thinner than the current Apple Watch.

That timing lines up with a previous report which said Apple's second generation Apple Watch would enter mass production in the second quarter of 2016. Quanta Computer will reportedly be the sole manufacturer of the device.

White also cites a source who says that the only the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus will get a dual lens camera. This corroborates another report from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

As usual the new device would likely help Apple boost sales growth.

Our meeting with a tech supply chain company highlighted a rough end to 2015 with significant forecast reductions from Apple; however, forecasts have been stable since then with 2Q:16 expected to be the trough. After a YoY sales decline in 1Q:16, our contact expects to return to growth in H2:2016. Production of parts of the iPhone 7 are expected to begin in July.

I could be in the market for an Apple watch, but it's not happening until it gets at least three days of battery charge. I would even have a less 'super tech' screen to have better battery time. Are you listening, Apple?

Judging from what they asked early iPhone 5 buyers what they wanted for the next iPhone that they all got what they wanted, yes.

Who gives a shit about a thinner phone or watch? Heirs already thin enough. We need a good long lasting battery. Not this shitty 0.001% longer lasting because we already know it's because that's how the older models were. They had a larger validity then they too some away so they can say on the future they last a bit longer. Bullshit. Do it already please. Give us a good batter. I'm tired of these extra charges and battery cases and tricks and tweaks to make the damn phone last longer. I want to use it to full capacity and still have a REAL all day battery.

Why not carry portable chargers with it. I'd like to point out we had thinner iPhones that continue to improve battery even if it's the same size like previous models. I happen to own the Apple Watch that lasts all day thanks to motion chargers and yes there are others than ampy that were just released and I went from a watch that lasts half a day up to all day. Problem solved.

That's not true. Remember they took away some percentage only to later say they improved it. No way, they just put it back like it was. I still love my iPhone. This is why we need a larger and/or longer lasting battery. To be able to use it to its full potential without carrying any extra shit.

Apple lover here; but who cares.....make a phone that I can take to the gym monitor my performance, connect to my Beats wireless, and leave my phone in the locker room; wouldn't this be amazing not to have to drag a 6 around the gym; a autonomous watch in your wrist

Renders? I'd consider it. It's too chunky as of now

Personally I like the thickness of the Apple Watch now. It is chunkier and more substantial. I dont think I would want a thinner Apple Watch. Dont like thin watches. Keep the same form factor and GPS and WIFI would make me think about buying another.

I just hope they don't change the bands connection, that would be too bad, I don't believe they come up with that crazy idea! :/

Its never a good idea to buy Apple stuff just as they lower the prices, tends to mean there is a new product coming soon.

Do you have an Apple Watch? At least with mine the battery lasts a lot so even if it gets smaller it shouldn't be that much of a problem.

Wouldn't it be more fragile? As long as it don't bend, Apple can keep making thing thinner by all means. It's like a drug to Apple, an addiction of a drug called thinner which they get crazy for it lol.

gamerscul9870 - April 8, 2016 at 8:16pm
We got a thinner phones and battery improves. It's gotten thinner with bendgate issues soled with the metal to resist that on the 6s, plus the thinner than before is common among every company nowadays. That's why even most tablets and phones are thinner than apples devices, but fragile watch I think not!
