Supreme Court to Hear Samsung vs. Apple Appeal Starting October 11th

The Supreme Court of the United States has announced that it will hear Samsung's appeal of a verdict that found the company guilty of infringing on Apple's patents starting October 11th.

The appeal to the Supreme Court could help establish how important design is to the overall value of a product.

"A patented design might be the essential feature of a spoon or rug. But the same is not true of smartphones, which contain countless other features that give them remarkable functionality wholly unrelated to their design," Samsung said.


If it wins, Samsung expects to get back the $548 million it has already given Apple for infringing on its patents.
