EvilPenguin is Back With New 'Remove Recents' Tweak

Posted August 2, 2016 at 5:20pm by iClarified
Developer EvilPenguin has returned to the scene with a new 'Remove Recents' tweak that removes recent apps from the stock app switcher leaving you with just running tasks.

Removes Recents from the task switcher. The stock task switcher is really annoying. Everytime you launch an app, it sits in the task switcher even when it is not running. Apple considers this a feature I guess. It's really lame. Pretty soon you have a ton of apps down there with no idea what's running or not (most of it is not). This extension will remove all the recents so that only running tasks show up, the way it should be.

There are no options to configure to configure for this tweak. You can download it free from the Big Boss Cydia Repository.

To install 'Remove Recents' you will need to jailbreak. You can find instructions on how to do that here.

The tweak is applied to the switcher at runtime. Basically it will remove the apps preview from the switcher when the process is not running. A good example is when you launch the phone you see Mail and Messages are the first two things in the switcher - this tweak will remove those since they are not running.

Hm, installed it but doesn't seems to do anything. App are still there and I have to close them manually after couple of hours. Do I have to active remove recents somehow or it should do it automatically? I'm still on 9.0.2

Did you let the app sit for 15 minutes and see if it disappears?
