iPhone 7 Finishes Last in Flagship Smartphone Battery Life Test [Chart]

Posted October 3, 2016 at 1:16pm by iClarified
The new Apple iPhone 7 finished last in a battery life test of flagship smartphones by Which?. The U.K. consumer body does testing to help customers make informed purchasing decisions.

Which? compared the iPhone 7’s battery life when making calls and browsing the web to the Samsung Galaxy S7, HTC 10 and LG G5.

The iPhone 7 didn't fare too well.

Whilst the iPhone 7’s 712 minutes of call time (nearly 12 hours) may sound acceptable, the rival Samsung Galaxy S7 lasted twice as long – and it doesn’t even have the longest lasting battery. The HTC 10 lasted an incredible 1,859 minutes (that’s almost 31 hours).

The iPhone 7 did better when it came to Internet browsing time at 615 minutes of battery life; however, it lasted 25 minutes less than the LG G5 and 175 minutes less than the HTC 10.

Take a look at the chart below for more details...

Yep. iPhone battery suxxxxs. Even my 7 dies into the beginning of the night. N I like to stay up late into night. Still gotta charge this sucker once mid day.

Not so much the battery issue as the inefficiency of iOS 10, once apple makes a few updates it should run longer. Also keeping your brightness down and turning off a lot of stupid features helps a lot.

I have both 7 & 7 plus. Don't like iPhone 7 battery but iPhone 7 plus battery, I just love it

Please, just because the iPhone 7 battery is so-called garbage just because it doesn't do as well doesn't mean you can excuse every iPhone. The battery continues to improve one generation after another, yet the results don't mention how long per day the battery last nor does it mean the battery cases (which do and will help) are so-called garbage either. Portable or solar batteries are a thing nowadays. Why the hell not?

I don't mean to sound like an apple fan but that chart is sketchy. First of all, why wouldn't they use an iPhone 7 plus to match the other phones? And who in their right mind would trade an iPhone for a HTC phone? Cmon.

Why didn't they use the 7 Plus? That screen size is closer to the other models if we want to be fair. Seems to me this was done on purpose.

The battery life for iPhone is garbage!! Even the 7 with its extra hour is garbage. That's what it used to be in the five before they reduced it. We all knew they would bring it back to what it was and then say it was improved battery when in reality that's what it used to be which was still crappy.

And this new 10 is a little quirky. The response time of the touch is not like it was. And this is uniform issue on all my devices.

I'm actually happy with the battery on the iPhone 7. It does well enough for me to last an entire day, plus I actually kind of like iOS 10. It's not as quirky to me, but I can see past the flaws.

Well that's the point, to me, even though iOS used to be missing some useful features, it used to be flawless. It worked great but now I'm seeing too many quirks. They should slow down on features and perfect these first. It's what we've grown to love about apple.

Also one has to consider the battery sizes of all the various devices. 1700 vs 3000 mAh? Most likely 3000 mAh will win. That's just science.

Brand new phones right out of the box I'm pretty sure.
