Apple Expected to Drop Price of MacBook Pro, Possibly Add Support for 32GB of RAM in 2017

Apple is expected to drop the price of the recently launched MacBook Pro and add support for 32GB of RAM next year, says KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

The analyst notes that Apple typically prices major upgrades higher in their launch year "before undergoing price cuts in the following year".

Additionally, Kuo expects the new MacBook Pros to gain support for 32GB of RAM as long as Intel launches its Cannonlake processors on time.

The new MacBook to be launched in 2H17 may support 32GB DRAM, eventually attracting more core users; this depends on whether or not Intel ships Cannonlake CPU on time in 2017, which features 15-25% less power consumption of LPDDR 4, versus the existing LPDDR 3. If Cannonlake doesn’t enter mass production as expected, the new models launched in 2H17 will adopt Coffee Lake, which continues to adopt LPDDR 3, and maximum DRAM support will also remain unchanged at 16GB.

Power users have expressed disappointment in Apple's decision to cap RAM at 16GB for this year's model. Apple SVP Phil Schiller says the new MacBook Pro maxes out at 16GB of RAM due to battery life concerns.

This is 2016 apple, touch screen is everywhere not 2006 with touch bar. What kind of inovation is this? Or is it called courage again? Courage to downgrade macbook pro?????

It is 5X faster to press the touchbar than to lift your arm for the screen and you can have true full-screen apps with no controls popping in and out

It should be called Macbook Adapters. Nothing Pro about it, normal mainstream processor, shitty GPU and 16 gig of ram and only usb-c ports. You can't even charge your brand new iphone 7 on that POS.

Where is the "can't charge your iPhone" coming from? The USB-C to lightening cable will allow your phone to charge just fine. Or if you're on the cheap, $3.99 gets a USB-C to USB-3 adapter and reuse your existing cable.

Buy a MBP. Buy an iPhone 7. How do you connect it to MBP? It just doesn't work...

I really don't understand after 5 years why this new MacBook Pro has a maximum memory of 16GB. I own a med 2012 MacBook Pro 15 Retina with 8GB and I'll wait to next update that raise to 32 o 64GB, because this is a PRO MacBook. Isn't it?

The more I wait since the last time I bought a MacBook Pro, the more the wait is worth it. This has been my case since the introduction of the Retina MacBook Pro.
