Apple CEO Tim Cook has issued a statement following an IDC report that has Apple Watch market share dropping 71% year over year. IDC estimated that Apple sold 1.1 million Apple Watch devices in the third quarter, down from 3.9 million a year ago.

In an email to Reuters, Cook says "Our data shows that Apple Watch is doing great and looks to be one of the most popular holiday gifts this year."

"Sales growth is off the charts. In fact, during the first week of holiday shopping, our sell-through of Apple Watch was greater than any week in the product’s history. And as we expected, we’re on track for the best quarter ever for Apple Watch," he said.

Cook's comment look forward to the holiday quarter rather than the past quarter IDC is referring to.

even with my friend's 15% employee discount, i still hesitant to buy one to replace my moto360(beautiful) or pebble(workhorse). the apple watch is neither but it has full access to the iOS. i need a 200usd entry level on gen 2 for the super cheap to build aluminum and silicone bands. i mean come on. it's aluminum and silicone and not even gorilla glass. 200-250usd entry level for gen 2. i think as an alternative, they can offer an apple watch for 150-200usd if you buy with a new apple iPhone. like a package deal

I use my Apple Watch for about 2.5 hours of activities a day, and I usually end my 18 hour days with 20% to 30% battery. First generation stainless steel 42mm. Maybe yours is having a problem, or maybe you have a weird background activity going on, like the way Facebook was draining iPhone batteries even when off....

He can't actually lie, you know? If he simply said "it's doing great", that'd be one thing. But if he refers to specific growth, it has to be true... Apple is a publicly traded company, there are rules.

Im still waiting for the killer app.. brought the watch but not too impressed yet, i guess it needs cellular conectivity! Strava isnt good. Answering the phone on it is ok, music sync is a bit tedious and not all that good, little in the way of video or sounds... even with a built in speaker - i guess the battery life would suffer. All in all a bit of a hollow purchase.

The problem is watch is useless, while driving car it is impossible to talk over watch, I can't hear, so using phone speakers is more efficient, and other thing is, I can use my phone with one hand but using the watch need my two hands, and get very very less info from watch, so it is not worth to fight the the watch app of the phone app, I buy it and believe that It did not with the money that I paid, I mean I paid a lot for something doing very less work for me, compared to the money paid and work done by the phone

Something is wrong here. Can anyone make an audit to Apple's sells ledger please. I guess being CEO of the richest company in the market should be reason enough to bend the accounts. I'm not secure that we are gonna get some sort of financial scandal soon. I say it again: something doesn't add up! And that is worrying.

What doesn't add up? And why does it worry you? Are you a shareholder?
