A trusted source tells the site that the announcement could come as early as Google's I/O conference this week.
The app would likely feature a blend of the "chat" style functionality in the Google Allo version of Assistant and the voice-controlled version found on Android, but again, details are scant.
The Assistant will likely be only available in the United States at launch. It's launch on iOS is expected to encourage more developers to integrate with its functionality.
