I think some...maybe even many... people are running towards their personal apocalypse BECAUSE of the apps. It's just not so obvious in the physical world, but maybe it will become much more visible in the future. How many lives do we lose each day because of texting while driving? How many hours of work and personal assets do people lose each day because they invested / trusted in a service that suddenly is stopped or turned into something unusable? How many lives turn into a nightmare because people made a small mistake when sharing data or a personal opinion... I think the apocalypse is well on it's way, the question is when will we realize it.
