Developer Elias Limneos‏ has posted a video demonstrating an upcoming tweak for iOS that adds a live 3D effect to your SpringBoard.

What if SpringBoard was in live 3D with accelerometer-based movement? With 3D effects, scene lighting, morphing, even with a solar system representation while you scroll? Soon...

Limneos is also the developer that recently hacked the iPhone to work with NFC devices.

This is incredible! IMO the best possible antidote to flat design. You have seriously no idea how much I want this for my jailbroken phone. I would be willing to pay stupid amounts of money to the developer when he releases.

iphone battery would drain like crazy if this tweak is kept on all day. but to turn on once in awhile pretty neat to show it off.

While I appreciate tweaks developers like Elias are releasing for us jailbroken users, this tweak is more like eye candy so I'm gonna skip it. I always keep my jailbreak as minimal as I can with the essential stuff I totally need from Cydia :D

Needs improvements. Too jerky. Make it more smooth without all that precision you see in there. Humans don't need it to be so accurate cos it leads to that jerky look.

This is interesting concept. But it might not be practical in use because it will use too much GPU. Ultimately it is lilkely lead to poor battery life.
