TSMC has landed orders to fabricate all the A12 processor chips for Apple's new 2018 iPhones, according to a DigiTimes report.

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is ready to enjoy a sure win over Samsung Electronics in the race of 7nm process volume production in 2018, as it has secured orders from over 40 customers for fabricating chips on the advanced process for mobile communication, high-performance computing and AI (artificial intelligence) applications. Both Apple and Qualcomm are among TSMC's major customers, with the foundry house contracted to fabricate all the A12 processor chips for the 2018 new-generation iPhone devices, according to industry sources.

Additionally, TSMC is incorporating extreme ultraviolet (EUV) technology into its 7nm+ process and is stepping up deployments in the 5nm and 3nm processes.

To compete against TSMC's 5nm node, Samsung is planning to launch a 4nm process in 2020. It's also said to start 7nm volume production in 2018 and is developing 6nm and 5nm processes for 2019. The company is hoping to capture 25% of the global foundry market within five years. Samsung currently has 10%, significantly less than TSMC's 60%.

Remember that one time there was an article saying how much the blue company (refuse to mention their name) was mentioned about how Apple moving away with them would be bad to them? It not only goes to show about this so-called match made in heaven, but how iPhone are better independently without them considering how TSMC is ahead of them. That's a match made in heaven. LAWL
