Netgear has announced several enhancements to its Arlo security cameras including Person Detection, Cloud Activity Zones, Rich Notifications, and e911. The new features come via service plans that use 'intelligent algorithms and smart analytics'.

Using advanced algorithms, Arlo cameras can learn to understand what they see, reducing the number of false notifications from normal everyday movement. Smart features such as Person Detection and Cloud Activity Zones allow users to define motion zones and personalize alerts while filtering out false notifications like the neighbor’s cat running along the fence or trees swaying in the wind. The Rich Notifications feature enables users to see what Arlo sees, right from your smartphone lock screen, eliminating the need to launch the app to view videos from alerts.

“Arlo cameras are already packed with innovative technologies, but the more intelligence we integrate through AI analytics, the more convenience the system offers to our users,” said Pat Collins, senior vice president of Arlo products at NETGEAR. “The new Arlo Smart service plans provide our users with additional features that expand the capabilities of the system in a way that best fit each user’s lifestyle. From intelligently learning about notification preferences to reducing ‘false positive’ alerts and even making it more convenient to contact first responders when it matters most, the new Arlo Smart service plans were designed with personalized safeguarding at the forefront.”

In addition to Person Detection, Cloud Activity Zones and Rich Notifications, the Arlo Smart Premier and Arlo Smart Elite service plans provide a e911 Emergency Call Service, which puts the user in direct touch with first responders local to the camera’s location.

Arlo Smart service plans are compatible with every Arlo camera and start at $2.99 per camera per month, or $9.99 per month for up to 10 cameras. Existing subscribers of the Premier and Elite service plans will automatically be transferred to the Arlo Smart Premier plan and Arlo Smart Elite plan, respectively.

Arlo Smart — $2.99 per month per camera
All Arlo cameras come with an included Basic plan offering access to motion-and audio-triggered recordings from the past seven days, for up to five cameras. With the introduction of Arlo Smart, users can now add on smart features such as Person Detection, Cloud Activity Zones, and Rich Notifications on a per camera basis for a small monthly fee.

Arlo Smart Premier — $9.99 per month
The Arlo Smart Premier plan offers Arlo Smart features for up to 10 cameras and extends cloud recordings for a full 30 days. For extra peace of mind, U.S. customers will also get access to e911 emergency call service.

Arlo Smart Elite — $14.99 per month
The Arlo Smart Elite plan offers the same smart features and e911 emergency call service (U.S. customers) as the Arlo Smart Premier plan, but with up to 60 days of cloud recordings for up to 20 cameras.

Netgear says a one-month free trial of the Arlo Smart Premier plan will be offered to new subscribers. You can checkout the selection of Netgear security cameras here or hit the link below to learn more about the new service plans.
