New iPad Pro Drops Ultra Wide Camera, SIM Card, mmWave, More

Apple's new iPad Pro comes with a host of new features but it also loses a quite a few features found on the previous generation device.
Most notably, the 2024 iPad Pro no longer has a 10MP Ultra Wide camera. That leaves it with just a 12MP Wide camera. Apple does say that new Wide camera now offers "even better color, improved textures, and detail in low light". The new iPad Pro also features an adaptive True Tone flash that enables better document scanning.
Those who still prefer a physical SIM card will be disappointed to learn that the 2024 iPad Pro no longer has a SIM card tray and only supports eSIMs.
Additionally, the 2024 iPad Pro drops support for mmWave and reduces the number of Gigabit LTE bands supported to 31 from 32. 5G millimeter wave, or 5G mmWave, uses the high-band frequency of the radio spectrum above 24 GHz. That allows for higher speed but at shorter distances than lower frequency spectrums.
Finally, if you have an Apple Pencil 2 that you were hoping to use with your new iPad Pro, that won't be possible. The 2024 iPad Pro only supports Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil USB-C.
While these features may be missed, there are many new features to entice prospective customers. Check those out here:
