So, I used the ECID to generate the unique certificate and also obtained the signed iBEC and iBSS files. They are about 103kb correct? Anything else I need to do so far? Thanks for your help.

Jailbreak and unlock worked great; found my Tmobile SIM right away the first time I turned on the phone but not the 2nd time. 3rd time it said no SIM but then found it and worked right away. Wonder why it is so wonky? Unfortunately I have no SIM other than a Tmobile prepaid; I can see edge on there but no way to test it. I am hoping a prepaid SIM with 3G data access will work in the UK.

i had no success so i did the tutorial at http://www.modmyi.com/forums/iphone-news/659101-how-capture-your-iphone-3gs-ibec-ibss-mac.html i got both files but my question is do i have to do this method? or as long as i got the files im good? i also did the USB Dump from Purplera1n.com thanks in advance

There really isn't one. The only reason I'm doing it is becuase of the faster processor and RAM. Thats it. Apple has covered most of the flaws of the Iphone out, and these flaws have been corrected with Cydia.

the 3.0 firmware (.ipsw file) - have you downloaded it with Safari or Firefox? Download it with Firefox, do not dl it with Safari. Follow the guide correctly, you shall succeed.

it froze a couple times, rebooted, spent some time working on it and it finally worked! on a vista 64, almost went into safe mode and tried it there, but after I rebooted I was able to finish the installation. thanks for this tutorial!

Dang. In a non-malicious world, one could potentially have made a webpage where you simply enter your phone number to get SMS'd a jailbreak.

Alright...so I've DFU restored about 5-6 times my 3GS w/ Terminal window and the phone just restores but I never get the files in the Pwnage folder! Somebody help please!
