I don't think Apple could do it. Wouldn't be wise. VW has been making cars for over 50 years and still build pieces of shit.

Can you imagine how small the iCar would be? Each 'generation' getting smaller and smaller.

A car made by apple would require very frequent trips to the mechanic ( like the frequent updates apple releases for its devices), it would be a slow and small car ( like how iPhone/ iPad technical specifications are compared to other smartphones), it would require iTunes every time you need to refuel it or wash it, And every time the car won't start, you'll need to Restore it using iTunes. The car would come in 2 colors: black, and a couple months later, white. If something has to be fixed or replaced, then a new car would have to be brought in because all the parts would be impossible to remove( like the new MacBook pros, where you can no longer upgrade the ram or hard drive). When the second generation is released, people with the first generation car are denied new features, even though these features would be capable of being on the first generation ( like siri, which is only on the iPhone 4s and iPad 3, even though it has been proven that Siri can run perfectly well on the iPhone 4 and iPad 2). After 3 years, your car is no longer supported by apple. Oh, and the starting price for this car would be $60,000 for a small minivan-type car. This car can also only be serviced at apple repair shops, where you would probably have to wait in line for your small 15-minute session. It would not be compatible with regular car tires, so you would need the special apple tires (like the special 30-pin connector instead of USB on the iPhone). Also, every new generation of cars would look and feel the same like the previous generation (like the UI of iOS, the the design of the MacBook/iPhone/iPod/iPad). In general, thank god apple didn't decide to make a car.

Yes! iWheels, it could have been. A Diesel-electric hybrid with parallel drive train, licensed from M-B. Features might have included: swipe-to-open doors, iOS-engine and charge management, total integration between driver instrument IGZO panel touch command center. Solar roof panel would provide trickel charge that would supply enough energy to drive all electronic functions during the day. Driver would never have to worry about keys since the smart iOS would recognize audio signature along with other biometrics such as facial recognition or finger print. Vital information like drive train are automatically uploaded to a registered 250G iCloud account, so that one would never need a CD. Particularly worth mentioning is the M-B diesel electric drive train. It's a parallel drive that would guess the driver's mood or intent to appropriate % of energy source, combustion vs electric. The conservative driver could reap EPA as high as 60mpg highway or 100mpg urban, due to the efficiency of the the supercharged engine and CVT tranny. It might not be a fast car(0-60 10sec) but one that would last 20 years. The only option would be Siri steering hands free control that could drive the car safely to destination via iOS feature called accident avoidance. The price tag? Estimated to have been $50,000. Yikes! A premium that only Apple fans could afford.
