I was able to compile the patchstick after I logged on as root and ran through the tutorial. However, the patchstick didn\'t do anything when I rebooted the ATV. It just sort of flickered and I had to reset the the language preferences. I bought this a couple of weeks ago and it was version 2 out of the box. I actually have already manually installed perian (by taking the thing apart) but every attempt I\'ve made to enable SSH has failed. If anyone has any ideas...

No - I meant will the procedure work if done with the correct CD but from a PPC Mac (finding an INTEL CD not DVD installer is another problem entirely unto itself)

@MickeyMoo, yes it does require an Intel version of Tiger.
@jupil, did you format your usb stick first ?
@Roland, are you using an Intel Tiger Install CD ?

Same problem here as with first poster doing this tutorial. My AppleTV system is a 1.1 from the factory. I am running this om leopard. Installing the EFI boot also fails, AppleTV doesn\'t even consider it worth looking for. Time for a new tutorial?

totally new at this so please forgive the stupid question - does this require an Intel based mac? I\'ve tried it on a PPC machine but I get the following error(s) when running sudo sh script.sh : Password: Mac OS X Install Disc 1: Found Mac OS X 10.4.9 Combo Update: Found AppleTV 1.1 Update: Found mkdir: ./sbin: File exists mkdir: ./usr: File exists mkdir: ./usr/lib: File exists mkdir: ./usr/lib/system: File exists mkdir: ./../Patchstick/ssh: File exists Directories: Created Extract from 10.4.9 Update: Completed pax: WARNING!
