I did no succeed in jailbreaking with 3G connection or wthrough broadband at home. I went to my summerhouse and tried through broadband there and it worked. My conclussion is that operators and broadband suppliers in cooperation with operators have made it impossible to download the jailbreakme file. Find a wifi network that is not related to an operator and the download should work.

Hey guys! I\'ve got an iPhone 3gs with 3.1.3 on it and it crashed. I am now in restore mode and was hoping to maybe if possible upgrade it to 4.0.1 when I\'ve got it plugged into iTunes and hit alt restore it says it will erase and restore to 4.0.1 and verify with apple. Do I proceed? My SHSH should be on saurik\'s server. HELP please I haven\'t had my phone for 2 days IM DYING! :o)

I googled and found out from many sources AND YOUTUBE VIDEOS that apple has stopped signing iOS 4.0.1 AND YOU ARE FORCED TO UPDATE TO iOS4.0.2 if you want to restore a frozen iphone. I also read that iOS 4.0.2 can not be jailbroben and unlocked. I also read that the only way to restore your frozen iphone4 with iOS4.0.1 back to iOS4.0.1 is if you have your SHSH stored on saurik\'s server. PLEASE CONFIRM THIS.

I think I F\'ed up. I bought an Iphone 3GS that belonged to a friend of mine. It was working but he \"tried\" to reset the phone and maybe did nut now it keeps freezing on the apple screen. Ok so I go and try and restore the phone using the 4.0.1 off of here and no luck all 6 times I tried. SO I said f---- it I restored using Itunes not realizing the the new fw is 4.0.2. Now I cant activate it and even if I do can I jailbreak and unlock it?? So I need help on activating it and jailbreacking it.....HELP!!!!

I just downgraded from 4.0.2 on my iphone 4 and my iphone 3gs to 4.0.1 my iphone 4 was easier because I had my other laptop that had the file I needed on the hard drive so I followed the instructions and when I got to the part where you hold shift key and hit restore I used that firmware and it worked. My 3gs was more difficult it kept saying not combatable firmware...I found this site and got the firmware for 3gs phone and it worked. then I broke both of them with jailbreakme.com if that helps you. I don\'t think it\'s a matter of itunes just a matter of getting the right *.ispw file (firmware). I\'m a trucker with little programing experience thanks to all the people who have posted stuff I appreciate getting the phones broke.

Insert a SIM (if iphone belongs to AT&T then any at&T SIM that was once active or is still active). Connect it to itunes and your iphone will be activated. Now restore it to FW 4.0.1 and then jailbreak and unlock. Be very careful to choose a correct firmware to restore. Please reply back or ask for more help.

I have always been told that the iphone 3gs CANNOT be downgraded. Is this true? @TARA: I dont have an AT&T Sim....thats why I am having the issue in the first place

Hey truckerdude... you downgraded your iphone4 from 4.0.2 to 4.0.1?!?! What was that file you needed to do that? I am using a macbook so is that gonna cause a problem? I have not yet used a jailbreak and was going to... it just so happened to be the day they came out with the new firmware!!! Ouch!! Am I going to be able to downgrade?

Does anybody know for sure if itunes stopped signing iphone 4 restore to fw 4.0.1, This is very important because fw 4.0.2 can not be jailbroken/unlocked. I have seen some post stating that iphone4 restore to fw 4.0.1 is only possible if you saved your SHSH on Saurik\'s server. Yesterday my ijailbroken (4.0.1) phone4 got frozen and I am afraid to restore through itunes. I tried once with itunes and it wanted to update my firmware to 4.0.2, so I stopped. I tried restoring through shift key and directing the itunes to 4.0.1 firmware that I downloaded from iclarified but it was not successful. Presently iphone only shows black screen. I tried t reset but Could not (stuck at apple logo). Any ideas?

I googled and found that apple has stopped signing 4.0.1 firmware. Now you can only restore your iphone 4 to fw 4.0.2 using itunes. Restoring to fw 4.0.1 is only possible if you have SHSH stored on Saurik\'s server and follow DFU restore procedure. May be you restored it via DFU and your iphone\'s SHSH was on Saurik\'s server.

From various sources on google I understand that apple has surely stopped signing restore to iOS4.0.1, now you must upgrade to 4.0.2 if you want to restore. You will only be able to restore to 4.0.1 if you have your iphone\'s SHSH stored on Saurik\'s server. Please check it out. It also means that if you did not store your iphone\'s SHSH on Saurik\'s server then restore will only be possible to iOS4.0.2 and you have to wiat for new jailbreak methods to be released.

Firstly, im not a tech guru or mastermind. Im just a logical guy who is patient and uses trial and error methods. This maybe a little fix which worked for me. (I use a Mac) I downloaded the \"iPhone2,1_4.0.1_8A306_Restore.ipsw\" file via \"http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=750\" for my 3gs iphone. I used itunes for the restore by keeping hold of \'Alt\' when pressing the restore button. This allowed me to select the ipsw file i just downloaded. I went through the normal restore process and then my phone rebooted. After the reboot i came across another problem first. My phone had been locked to an Vodaphone.au as i had it on contract over there, but now im in europe. I had thrown away my old sim and the screen was telling me that i had to contact my network carrier to get a new sim. I was lucky that my girlfriend had a prepaid sim with the same carrier. I placed this sim in and the phone activated...thank god! Otherwise i would have been in the s%@t. Apparently you can also use what is called a \"Phonebook Card\" [http://www.ditsblog.com/tag/phonebook-card/] by Dits. This also works as it does not require a password and you can you it no matter what carrier your phone is locked to. So my phone is actived and working as i bought it. Now i restored all my music, contacts etc via the itunes backup i had of my phone. This gave me a normal phone apart from the jailbroken apps. I was in a restaurant with free wi-fi at the time doing all this so the internet was not very quick. I logged onto \"http://www.jailbreakme.com\" and used the slider. The next message popped up \"Oops File Received Was Invalid\". I repeated the process a few times but to no progress. Jailbreakme would not install at all. This is where i think these next steps work. I restored the phone yet again for the last time. Activated the phone with the sim and restored my data. Then i turned off the wifi, turned off 3g, and reset Safari\'s cache, cookies and history on the iphone [found in the settings menu]. I left the restaurant and went home. I left the phone on but without any internet connection for about 10 hours (basically i went to bed unhappy) I woke up the next day to find that my internet was being installed in my apartment. Excellent i thought. I have a 100mb/s glass fiber connection installed now. Super fast! I turned my iphones wifi signal on straight away and tried the jailbreak me website again to see if still didn\'t work. I was 100% sure it wasn\'t going to work. I mean why would it be any different today just a few hours later?? I got a big shock when i slid the slider and jailbreakme told me it was installing. F$@^ing Brilliant!!!! It installed perfectly and i went straight into the cydia app and downloaded ultrasn0w so i could put my new O2 sim in. Then downloaded installous and appsync. Now my phone is perfectly jailbroken and unlocked and running my downloaded apps once i synced it with itunes once more. I think once you restore your phone you need to leave it without any wireless connections for a while so that the phone can settle the new restore. Also i think using a fast internet connection helps too. Also resetting safari\'s cache and cookies. I\'m sure this is key as i tried maybe 40 times the previous night. Hope this helps De Jav

long story, only a high speed internet connection can help the rest not helping.as i was saying earlier the saurik server had some problems for that reason you didnt manage to jailbreak.also in some cases restore with shift/alt+restore helps.

Hi, everyone! I have an iPhone 3GS still running on 3.0.1, modem firmware 04.26.08 jailbroken with redsn0w and unlocked with ultrasn0w. I have all the following SHSHs on file with Cydia. Can I upgrade using iTunes, and if so as i understand this jailbreak is for 4.0.1, but in iTunes there is only 4.0.2 so i must use my SHSHs, but i don\'t know the procedure. Is that even possible? I\'m using Windows. Please help:) Also is there a problem with the unlock in some way since i depend on it? Thanks in advance:)

download the 4.0.1 firmware, restore with itunes(SHIFT+RESTORE), after that follow the steps here: www.usermadetutorials.com

right click on phone name in ithunes. then back up iphone or something like that. I head the same problem when i tried to jailbreak. Jailbreak was impossible, but i have add backup to this phone and I\'m happy

yes its working, you have to clear the history of safari and cache also, then try to install jailbreame.com... its working in Saudi Arabia,..... hurryyyyyy Thankx....
