I have gone through all the steps to unlock the phone and it works fine. I know what my problem is......THE BASEBAND. I know that it has to be on 02.28.00, but mine is stuck on 02.30.00. I don\'t know how to downgrade it......its killing me. When i use pawnage it doesn\'t give me the option to change the baseband. Any Answers?
2.1 firmware has 02.11.07 modem firmware.
2.2 firmware has 02.28.00 modem firmware.
2.2.1 firmware has 02.30.03 modem firmware.

Sorry to say it\'s impossible and you\'re stuck with Baseband 02.30.00. But hopefully in the future there will be a fix.

You cant do anything once you have updated the basband software other than buy a turbo sim... Well at the moment anyway.

I am afraid that they are both right. I did my iPhone just fine, but botched my wife´s. Brought it to an Apple Store and thank God they could save it....but now on the latest base. So bought a turbo sim for it and it works! Just have to wait for a break on either the last or the future 3.0 firmware, which would be even better!

There is no solution. There\'s no known way to downgrade the baseband if you\'ve put that version on already. One day there may be.

small correction: I have that error on the nine step instead of last one.
Alex - April 2, 2009 at 6:00pm
Guys, pls help. I have error on the last step: iphone enters DFU mode(Pwnage blue window indicates it), BUT iTunes pops up with error message:
\"An iPhone has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect ant reconnect iPod and try again. An unknown error occurred (2001)\"
I tried all possible things, even bought new USB cable as last chance... Just can add that I used Fix_DFU script to enter DFU mode. my iPhone 2.2.1 (5H11). I tried with iTunes 8.1, now reinstall it to 8.0.2(mentioned in tutorial)...All the time the same error message. Pls answer or e-mail me (smirnov_alexey@list.ru)

Have ordered one. Hope it works! Thanks! This is for my wife´s phone. I unlocked my own, then hurried on hers and fucked up! So I hope the turbo sim works until someone finds a way around the baseboard problem!
james - April 2, 2009 at 6:18pm
OK...Have received the sim card turbo thingy and IT WORKS! So even though she has an updated baseband, the turbo sim has opened up for the SIM card. So until a software break shows up for the later base band, or even 3.0 firmware...she has a phone! Woohoo!

i keep getting the error code 21 and i been trying to unlock this for the last couple of hours can anyone help.
scamster - March 29, 2009 at 4:45pm
I\'m not sure what that code is for but I bet your running osx 10.5.6. If you are you can\'t go into DFU mode there are a few work around for this; the easiest is to plug your iPhone into the computer via a usb hub. Go back to Pwanage Tool and put your iPhone into the DFU mode. Hopefully that should work for you!

Can this be done if the phone is already on the 2.2.1 software? I was led to believe if the basband s/w had been changed there is nothing you can do? Help A Newbie :o)
scamster - March 26, 2009 at 10:09am
If you\'ve updated the iPhone via iTunes to the official software version 2.2.1 or you bought the iPhone with that software unfortunately the baseband is on the latest version and cannot be downgraded in order for you to use YellowSn0w to unlock your iPhone to use on other carriers. You can still Jailbreak the iPhone by following the above instructions to the letter. This will install, Installer and Cydia so you can put on your iPhone all sorts of goodies!

Thanks Scamster, as I suspected then.. I hope someone will be able to unlock the phone in future updates? I read somewhere that hackers are leaving this version alone, so the new s/w 3.0 wont be over secured? I managed to get myself a turb sim off Ebay and its worked perfectly, so I am just jail breaking it now ;o) Thanks again.
scamster - March 26, 2009 at 10:49am
I\'m sure they\'ll find a way to unlock future versions its all part of a cat and mouse game. Turb sim??? Is that one of those SIM devices that allows you use other SIM\'s?
Blade_76 - March 26, 2009 at 11:02am

I thought it was the turbo SIM yeah remember seeing a vid on it a while back. Quite a good thing if you don\'t want to risk doing a Jailbreak or void your warranty!
james - March 27, 2009 at 9:00pm
Can you remember what the ad on eBay was titled? I have the 2.2.1 now with the latest base.....so I guess I have to go the same route!
Blade_76 - March 28, 2009 at 8:07am
Yes sure mate - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110366612012&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123
Just to pre warn you, I was having lots of problems receiving calls and txts, could make/send em, but not receive. I have found out that the sim doesnt really work with 3G at the moment, they are working on it. So I am on 2G making/receiving calls and txts no problems. I find when you first put the sim in, it might come up with the network then come up no sim, it does this a couple of times and then hey presto (about the 3rd time for me) it stays on the network. Hope this helps?

I followed the instructions Scamster gave me and... I\'ve got an iphone 3G jailbroken and unlocked. I\'ve been using for 3-4 weeks with great joy and no problems (touch wood).
Thanks to everyone, specially to Scamster.
scamster - March 26, 2009 at 10:11am
