Nokia is reportedly planning to unveil its upcoming Windows Phone 8 devices ahead of Apple's new iPhone unveiling, reports Bloomberg.

Nokia plans to announce Windows Phone 8-based handsets as early as next month at its Nokia World event -- ahead of an expected Sept. 12 unveiling of the next version of the iPhone -- and have them for sale before the year-end holiday shopping season, said a person with knowledge of the matter, asking not to be identified because the plan isn't public.

Nokia has been struggling with U.S. sales of its Lumia devices having only sold 600,000 handsets in North America last quarter. Current Lumia devices will not run the next major version of Windows Phone and as such are now seen as a dead end buy for customers.

If the company is able to put forward a flagship phone with better specs than the Lumia 900 they could see improved results from Microsoft's huge Windows 8 marketing push.

"What's key for Nokia is to not give up too early," Alex Spektor, an analyst at Strategy Analytics said. "Most are eager to buy an iPhone or an Android, but this is a long-term play for Nokia. They just have to hang on."

This is as usual with Nokia, i remember the n97.. I was still using Nokia back then and i was rally taken by it when is was launched, the thing wit Nokia is that they don't have any products until much much much later!! That is the reason why the apple gets my money now. They launch a product and have it out by next weekend. Nokia this is for you, until you stop presenting products that you don't have in production and can deliver in the next month you will not get any credibility. Wait till you have a product that you can actually sell... Percy

I do however like the Window Mobile OS

The key to them selling a good number of phones would be to make sure that your current phone is going to be compatible with the net iteration of the OS that it runs. Hardware manufactures need to work closer with the OS manufacturer if they want to succeed, how is it that people don't understand that yet?

Exactly. The reason I moved right back to iPhone after getting a Lumia 900 is the fact that they already dropped support for it. A phone that comes out the same year as the new OS and it isn't even upgradable to it. 7.8 is a bad excuse. Done with Windows phones for now

Fuck you ,your a Nokia hater and a complaining bitch forever!

Umm, calm down there. I don't hate Nokia or any cell phone manufacturer for that matter. What I don't like, is that they came out with a phone that doesn't even support the next OS update that is coming out less than a year after the phone was released. That is a very poor business model that I'm sure is going to piss off a lot of people that purchased the phone. If you are going to release a product, make sure it's going to be compatible with the OS for at least 2 years, otherwise you're showing your customers you don't care about them and you're only in it to make money.
