Samsung's flagship tablet for the year will launch in the US tomorrow, August 16. The company announced at an event today that the tablet would launch tomorrow at numerous retailers, including Best Buy, Office Depot and Amazon. It will be priced at $499 for the 16 gigabyte Wi-Fi model, and $549 for the 32GB Wi-Fi model.
The tablet actually includes a built in stylus and comes preloaded with apps optimized to be used with the "S Pen."
As far as hardware, the Galaxy Note 10.1 isn't a real standout. It has a 10.1-inch display with a 1,280 by 800 pixel resolution. Though it's clear and bright enough for reading text and viewing video and images, it's not the sharpest display I've ever seen (the iPad has a 2,048 by 1,536 pixel resolution). Samsung said it had to make some trade-offs to keep costs down.
The Galaxy Note 10.1 will ship with Android 4.0, but will be upgraded eventually to the latest Jelly Bean
"Trade off to keep the price down" it's plastic! How much more of a trade off do they need!?
Even apple retina iPad is the same price as iPad 2 when it was launched.
Sure apple are Absorbing the increased cost.
You'd think Samsung could do the same ?
It's also a wacom tablet so how much do you think that tech costs...? If you read the web you would understand why this is NOT an iPad competitor... It's for a whole different breed of people who want the REAL pen capabilities... I do agree that the screen should be better and that is why I will stick with my iPad 3 and Infinity Prime... :)
