Apple's rumored low-end iPhone may actually be a mid-end iPhone, according to a report from J.P. Morgan analysts Gokul Hariharan and Mark Moskowitz.

AllThingsD relays their theory citing the iPad mini and iPod nano as examples:

In each case, Apple sacrificed a portion of its typically high margins to field a high-end product with enough mainstream aspirational appeal to expand its market share.... Presumably, Apple feels much the same way about the smartphone market.

“Currently Samsung dominates this segment ($200-500 price range) with 35+ percent market share. … We believe Apple could take 20-25 percent of this market in the next 12 months (from almost no market share currently), if it prices a lower-priced product at $350-400 levels.”

Take a look at the diagram below to visualize these price bands. A photo allegedly depicting a cheaper polycarbonate shell for the iPhone was leaked last month. Check it out here.

That's all great but I'm not hearing anything about a larger phone. So many others have great screens. When does apple plan to use one of those as well? Choices. We need real choices. We need sizes and same quality not crappy phones. If this happens I'm getting a Samsung. I even stopped purchasing apps and from iTunes depends ding on Ana apple releases this year. I hope it wows me or I'm sticking to the 4S till it dies on me

** Depending on what apple releases this year I meant to say. Just in case I has to switch I won't loose my money. Unless they open those as well and make them truly ours when we purchase them.

Here we go again with more stupid rumors. Next thing you know the rumors will be that the phone is ultra high end for people with incomes over $1,000,000 a year. These rumors are getting rediculous.
