Twelve South has unveiled its first product created in wood, the BookArc möd, a hardwood version of its popular BookArc stand.

Inspired by mid-century modern classics like the Eames Lounge Chair and Cherner Armchair, the elegant BookArc möd features hardwoods and finishes chosen to complement almost any home or studio. BookArc möd was also designed with future MacBooks in mind. The sturdy stand comes with two silicone inserts to fit all current MacBooks, including the slim MacBook Air. When Apple releases new generations of MacBooks, Twelve South can simply offer new inserts for updated compatibility.

“Most accessories riff on the design of the hardware they're holding, but what if the design was more like the furniture in the room?” said Andrew Green, Creative Director of Twelve South. “We looked at our favorite mid-century modern pieces and thought: This design language works beautifully alongside Apple hardware. Making our curved elegant BookArc for MacBook out of natural wood was the perfect piece to debut this new combination, and we think it’s the start of a whole new kind of modern, room-fitting accessory.”

BookArc möd has soft footpads to protect the surface you set it on. You can choose from three BookArc möd finishes: A light, bright Birch, a soft brown Walnut and a rich, dark Espresso.

You can purchase BookArc möd for $79.99 / £69.99 / 79,99 € at TwelveSouth.com.

Wouldn't I just lean it against the wall standing it up by folding the MacBook like a tent? That's how it's done.

Oh, I was off topic on this article. Isn't there already an arc for the apple laptop? I own one and paid $10 for it. This is not much different. Mine is made out of aluminum alloy. This is kind of late coming out.

How can u get ripped off if apple products are better. They are not pc's that are swamped by viruses because of crappy windows software. It wasn't a surprise that window android phones were were also plagued by viruses. Between loosing my account information and having something better I choose better. Just because people can afford better things doesn't mean they are getting ripped off. It's because they can afford to make a smarter choice. I own both pcs and apple products but I prefer apple. It's simple and user friendly. Not like a failed product luck the new windows.

The main question is 'what's the point?' but then again the only people who will pay that much money for a piece of wood is apple owners who don't mind being ripped off.

Same for PC, but all this is because it's something that is needed, the more you pay, the more you get out of something.

I don't find it necessary, there is plenty of room for another, why stand it up, you'll eventually use it anyway.
