Apple Announces iOS 8 Adoption Has Already Reached 46%

Apple has announced that iOS 8 adoption has already reached 46%. First spotted by iClarified, Apple quietly revealed the statistic on its App Store Distribution page.

The company says iOS 8 adoption reached 46% on September 21, 2014. 49% of users are still using iOS 7 and 5% of users are on earlier firmware versions.

This level exceeds previous estimates and is impressive considering iOS 8 was just released on September 17th. Before the release, iOS 7 adoption was over 90%.

Ios 8 crashes all apps especially facebook instagram whatsapp it's terrible !

I would advice not to update to iOS 8 when you are on a iPhone 5 or below. It slows the entire phone down. I reverted to 7.1.2 Works like a charm.

found a nice bug in IOS8 or what i would think would be a bug. when you swipe emails to bring up Flags, Delete option. after you have deleted 1 or 2 emails my next swipe deleted the email right away without picking what i want 2 do with it .

half swipe brings up options, full swipe delete straightaway.

Not sure why this is seen as a good thing. Its not like Apple give there users a choice. If they need to reset the idevice they are forced to install the latest ios.

You can reset to factory settings without updating the OS. However if you want to restore the software (re-install), it will try to 'restore' the latest version. You can avoid the upgrade by making sure you have the OS image you ant to restore in iTunes, there are guides online so it's entirely doable with no jailbreak or anything, but it isn't obvious in the UI. Which to be fair makes sense, for most people if they need to re-install the OS, it's sensible to put on the latest software with patches and bug fixes as well.
