The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Are Capable of Playing Back 4K Video

Posted November 22, 2014 at 5:25pm by iClarified
The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are reportedly capable of playing back 4K video thanks to the new A8 chip, reports TUAW.

The discovery was made by the developers of WALTR, a Mac app that lets users upload unsupported video file types to the iPhone.

While testing the app developers found it is possible to playback 4K videos on the iPhone 6. Even if Apple hasn't announced it, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are ready to play 4K videos.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have resolutions of 1334x750 and 1920x1080 so they obviously can't play the video at 3840x2160; however, it's nice to have the ability to playback 4K if need be.

The company has posted a video to YouTube with proof which you can view below.

if you think that's impressive, you need to check out the Note 4.

I did, my best friend has one, as long as you don't have a few things open it will work but you have something incompatible to it then it freezes. We could barely scroll his contacts after playing a high resolution clip. Not at all impressive for its built with a lot of ram rather proper processing power with software.

And yes, I notice the Note 4 trying to down sample the video so it lagged when the memory was not available.

If you think that's impressive, you should go to an Android forum and see how they are mesmerizing on Apple? Seriously.

If there really is a site involved with news with iFans on their site then it would be interesting indeed. Almost like looking in a mirror.

Same to assume that having an android is good enough while it still works after a year in use. The mirror is not the same. I know for I was a former Android user.

Now does the iPhone 6 Plus play the 100mbps video better than the 6, and can these phones output to a 4K TV at that resolution or will it downgrade it to 1080p?

Now does speed still matter after getting a groundbreaking increase compared to the 5s? Is it even necessary to output when you can AirPlay to any TV?

Did the article said anything about supporting necessary screen resolution?
