Apple has completed a pilot production run of the new 12-inch MacBook Air and is expected to begin mass production of the laptop in the first quarter of 2015, reports DigiTimes.

Apple's new MacBook Air features Intel's Broadwell processors and a new chassis design to reduce the device's overall thickness and weight, but the start of mass production has been hampered by low yield rates, the sources said. As the yield issue is gradually being resolved, mass production is expected to come in the first quarter of 2015, the sources explained.

The new MacBook Air is apparently even thinner than current models and will likely have a Retina display. Previous rumors suggested it could come in multiple colors and would feature a fanless design, a trackpad without a mechanical button, and thinner bezels.

The new 12-inch notebook will apparently be targeted at the high-end market segment and have limited shipments; however, it should help Apple stay ahead in the ultra-thin laptop sector.

Quanta Computer is said to be the manufacturer of the new device.

Notably, DigiTimes also commented on the Apple Watch saying that mass production of the wearable should start in three months.

i still have macbook pro early 2011, after upgrade to yosemite .....my mac become very very slow i was so disappointed from them ....i try and lot of apps for boosting cleaning nothing!!!!! but someone told me ''RAM'' so i upgrade my ram from 4 gb to 10gb and wow now its working like rocket lol i still can not believe how its change !!!!! yosemite i guess its heavy os . RAM is the problem of slow mac.

How did you find out that later? When I looked at a picture of what was inside MacBook Pro since I wanted that, I got the idea of how it would be upgradable. I was lucky to get mine already upgraded with 16gb last year Christmas due to it being the late 2013 model. All I need left is the OWC flash storage and I am satisfied with this beast! It will be speed of light than ever.

i was looking long time to find the right ram its quit dificult. i got lucky i found crucial dot com .they have one application there you install and then wow they show you only ram and HDD which fit only for you pc. And also they have and tutorial video how to change them . it was very easy . arrives on my house 3 days after 1 pc of 8GB ram, i try and on eBay was the same prices

Solid State SATA Drive if you have extra money its worth to take it. i already upgrade my mac with this.i download super duper and i clone my old disk to my new solid disk .now speed on booting is faster and almost no time to open apps. for example photoshop it takes 4-5 seconds to open and microsoft word just 2-3sec. on crucial site has everything just install there application and you will see what you need ....just me i am lazing to check other sites for better price so u can take the info from there and order from others...

You appear to have the Macbook Pro Retina, which has RAM chips embedded in the Logic Board. To upgrade the RAM on these would require a Logic which is extremely pricey. You would be better off selling the machine and putting that money towards a brand new one of the spec you wish.

That was a comment to Nat btw.

I wasn't talking about the RAM which I just covered about maxing out and upgrading. I was asking about the Ssd that I can get that's the fastest out there.

I was very disappointed with my MacBook. After a while of using it, it got so slow that I had to pay for www.detoxyourmac.com to make it like new again. Thankfully, it only cost $25 and they'll take care of it for a lifetime, but still!!

Here's my way, 1. Max out ram before buying, 2. Replace the flash storage by Apple with owc, 3. Enjoy.

fragile? The iPad Air is so rock solid just like MacBook Air.
