Netflix to Offer Streaming Video to iPhone?

Netflix to Offer Streaming Video to iPhone?

Posted August 3, 2009 at 7:48pm by iClarified
Netflix may be working on an application to provide video streaming to the iPhone, according to MultiChannel.com.

The company will soon offer the Watch Instantly video-streaming feature on Apple iPhones and iPod Touch devices and the Nintendo Wii gaming console, according to an industry executive familiar with Netflix’s plans. (Netflix wouldn’t confirm the info, with a rep saying it declines to comment on “rumors or speculation.”)

MultiChannel notes that Netflix already provides content on: PCs, Macs, Microsoft’s Xbox 360, TiVo DVRs, Internet-connected Blu-ray players from LG Electronics and Samsung, the Roku set-top, and TVs from Sony and LG.

Whether or not a Netflix app would be approved is debatable. Apple could refuse the app because it 'duplicates' iPhone functionality and AT&T would likely object to the app on its 3G network. That being said the increased pressure by the media and the FCC on fair App Store practices might make now a good time to submit the application for approval.

And since silverlight isnt available for the iphone either , I dont see this as anytime too soon as the problem of solving it is at the feet of microsoft. Microsoft help the iphone! yeah ... sure

This is going to be an awesome idea, until AT&T tells Apple to reject it.
