The New Apple Tablet Operating System? [Video]

Posted August 13, 2009 at 12:34pm by iClarified
Videos of what claim to be the operating system for the new Apple Tablet have surfaced online. Initially, the first video was dismissed as a clear fake; however, a second clearer video "with strange hardware" has prompted online interest.

Originally labeled by Gizmodo as an illogical fake, the first video below shows a modal system where applications are self contained and can be dragged around the screen. It was considered unlikely and "stupid" for each app to have its own keyboard.

Now a new video has surfaced which claims to show the development platform for the new OS. It could be possible that the OS will download and run iPhone apps from the App Store; however, they currently don't make full use of the screen because there are no "tablet" apps yet.

Take a look at the videos and let us know what you think in the comments!

I call it fake. As stated, keyboard is too small. I don't think this would be anything they would think of. The windows are also far too small - all either landscape or portrait iPhone screen sizes. Coincidence? VNC is a great thing.

when the camera goes to the dock selection you can see the screen is white, perhaps its a macbook running a vnc to the iphone(s)

I hope the real apple tablet doesn't suck as much as this!

I think this may be a -real- prototype. i'll tell you why. at first i thought the first vid was fake because of the small keyboard on Notes, but then i realized maybe the OS is capabale of running ANY iphone os app including new Tablet apps, and is not done, so the demonstration was of the tablet running regular iphone apps like Notes, which has its own keyboard

Yeah that's why it might possibly be real. Obviously there are no apps yet designed for the new screen size. Thus the video demo is only showing how it runs apps designed for the iPhone screen size. If the poster is really a developer he can't exactly show his own app running or he will give away his identity.

I call fake. It looks like a very rough port of the iphone OS over to the tablet. Apply would have done a much better job. Atleast for the notes... when you go to edit it... why not bring up keyboard that is the full tablet width. This is not Apple's interface.

That's AWESOME!!! although a real AppStore designed for the tablet would be even better!
