QuickerTek has announced an update to one of the most popular Mac wireless signal products ever~the 1 Watt USB Transceiver. This simple-to-use USB device just plugs into the USB port of any Mac desktop or laptop after installing software, it will deliver ten times the signal range of the internal AirPort card.

Regardless of the setting, the 1 Watt USB Transceiver reaches out to distant Base Stations or other wireless access points. It is not just a range extender, it also ensures that maximum wireless speed is maintained.

The antenna is a 5dbi dipole model that is not only more powerful than that built in antenna of an AirPort equipped Mac, but it also is external to the computer case. This 1 Watt USB Transceiver temporarily clips to anything within a foot of the computer - often the screen of the laptop is ideal. This makes it better able to receive wireless signals - unrestrained by the metal computer chassis. And the antenna is removeable, so a higher power antenna can be used to upgrade the Transceiver later.

This easy-to-use device supports 802.11b/g wireless standards to readily connect to most any wireless network. From office to coffee shop to college campus, the 1 Watt USB Transceiver fully supports 64/128 bit WEP, WPA and WPA2 encryption, so you don't sacrifice data security for improved speed and range. You also get USB 1.1 and 2.0 support - making your USB connection work at maximum speed. It also supports WMM for the high demands of streaming multimedia audio and video.

Any Mac with an open USB port running Mac OS X 10.3.9, 10.4.x, 10.5.x or 10.6 is compatible with the new 1 Watt USB Transceiver. And since it only weighs four ounces, it is both light and compact - perfect for those users who frequently use laptops while traveling.

Pricing and Availability:
QuickerTek has the 1 Watt USB Transceiver for $299.95 (USD). Like most QuickerTek products, the new 1 Watt USB Transceiver is backed with a one-year warranty on parts and labor.
