iPhone 7 Shipments Higher Than Expected But Still Lower Than iPhone 6s [Report]

iPhone 7 shipments are higher than expected but still lower than the iPhone 6s, according to a new report from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Kuo says demand for the iPhone 7 got a boost thanks to the exploding Galaxy Note 7 and interest in Apple's dual camera feature.

A KGI survey found that Jet Black was the most popular color option at 30-35% of pre-orders globally and 45-50% of pre-orders in China. The 128GB version was most popular storage size and demand was about equally split between the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models.

Kuo is increasing shipment estimates from 60-65 million to 70-75 million but predicts that they will still be lower than the iPhone 6s.

3. The initial iPhone 7 supply shortage was due to better-than-expected demand for the iPhone 7 Plus and undersupply of jet black casings caused by a poor production yield rate of 60-70%; overall demand is still weaker than that for the iPhone 6S.

The headphone jack won't come back. You know how Macs get Reid of ports only to never have them come back again like the Ethernet port and the disc drive for example? That's the case here. Not only was this not a problem, but watchmojo.com did mention discs will be obselete just like wires and headphone jack in no exception, hell even ZDnet mentioned the jack will be obselete in the next decade, besides it's also not a problem at all to just keep the phone you already have and you're not paying as much for it as it was on launch day.

Yes, it's not likely to come back. However, it's very different than the other cases, because with them the removed items were either not that beneficial to most people or had significant downsides to being included. It's not true here, there's little benefit to removing the port and it's widely used. Personally, I have an iPhone 6 which I'm happy with for now, but I probably would have upgraded if the 7 had a headphone jack. I won't be buying a phone without a headphone jack in the future and I'm not buying Airpods now because my next phone may not be an iPhone.

I've used the headphone jack for the longest time and to be honest, it had the pros and cons while it lasted, but I look forward to a wireless future like abolishing the jack was meant to do, and now I can sell me speakers knowing that I have a stereo iPhone now, and airpods are pretty much worth it. What made me look forward to all this even more is that nevermind the jack is 100+ years old, but like most Mac ports, there's no reason not to get rid of it. I have had to deal with headphones that either didn't have a remote or it wouldn't work at all which meant pulling my phone out when sitting down and when doing so, the wires start to fray because of how tight the space is between me and the pocket when I didn't try to end the phone while doing so, and I sometimes drop my phone tugging the cord when it dangle and it kind of hurts, and all that wraveling back the cord in the EarPods case, the list goes on. Long story short, AirPods is worth the money.

"wireless future" ...gimme a break. Apple is a headphone company, remember they own beats audio. Sales would PLUMMET and shareholders would be angry if apple stopped manufacturing wired headphones, this move is complete hipocracy. They want to overcharge loyal customers, license third party vendors with the useless W1, and still sell wired headphones to everyone else. If a 'wireless future' was what they were after, they would have stopped manufacturing wired headphones at beats and designed headphones that were superior, in every way, to wired headsets. Instead they made 159 dollar bluetooth headphones with 5 hour battery life. That is a complete and total downgrade, in every sense of the word. Higher cost, ridiculous poor battery life, crappier sound quality. Im leaving the apple ecosystem because of this, and good riddance.

Funny people blaming the headphone jack for power than 6s shipments. The 6s will go down as the end of a Legend, no no and no it's not because of the missing headphone jack why it's lower. There headphones are still there do it the fools that preach this propaganda. Get use to it, mobile phones are going to ditch it.

My demand for iPhone 7 is super low. Its precisely assessed at zero due to the (not so) surprisingly underwhelming audio compatibility.

Same here. Why would i pay more for less convenience. 6 Plus right now. If Google Pixels disappoint, my next phone will be 6s Plus. If the jack is not back, i guess no more iPhone for me.

That may be coz ups don't do their job delivering packages, they instead return them to the sender, I "received" my phone the 16 but they don't do the delivery and do the same the second attempt and guess what no the 3rd or the last, but returned the package to Texas, I'm in Bronx NY. And be at home 24/7 waiting for my
