Boinx Software has released iStopMotion 2.1, an update to its wildly popular stop motion animation and time lapse software. iStopMotion 2.1 features markers-a convenient new way to structure the timeline-and improves compatibility with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. It is the first Boinx Software product to provide a full Japanese localization. The update is free and strongly recommended for all iStopMotion 2.x users.

"I continue to be impressed by the astonishing work that our users of all ages all over the world create with iStopMotion. iStopMotion is the tool of choice for stop motion animation (aka Claymation) and time lapse recording at home, at school or in the professional film studio," says Oliver Breidenbach, CEO of Boinx Software. "I am happy that finally we are able to provide a Japanese version and I am looking forward to seeing great works come from new users."

Markers:
Markers are a convenient way to structure the timeline and to aid the animation work in timing motion or labeling scenes-especially in longer animation projects. A marker is defined by a starting and an ending frame. Each marker has it's own name, color and description and can be dragged to a different location in the timeline easily.

Japanese Version Availability:
With iStopMotion 2.1, language support has been extended to Japanese, complementing the English, German and French localization. Distribution and support in Japan will be provided by act2, Tokyo.

Users in all languages can now work with long filenames including non-latin characters on Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard (and higher).

About iStopMotion:
Boinx iStopMotion is the leading solution for stop motion animation and time lapse capture, and won the O'Reilly Mac OS X Innovators Award in 2003. iStopMotion 2.1 is available in three flavors: Home, Express and Pro. The Home edition is for the casual user, the typical family where the parents want to have fun with the kids while providing them with a productive, creative and educational experience. The Express version appeals to the animation aficionado, who wants the features of the Pro version except those only needed in a professional production environment and spends a lot of time doing her animations. The Pro version is for the professional animator who uses iStopMotion in a production workflow, creating animations for commercials, music videos or in HD resolution.

Worldwide Availability and Pricing:
iStopMotion 2.1 is available immediately for download. A built-in assistant will guide users through the process of acquiring the proper license. The update to iStopMotion 2.1 is free of charge to current iStopMotion 2 license owners at their current license levels. iStopMotion 2.1 Home is available for $49 (USD), iStopMotion 2.1 Express is available for $99 and iStopMotion Pro is available for $499 via Kagi. Pricing for Japan will be announced by act2 in the near future. For all purchase options visit their website.
