Check out this video from developer Guilherme Rambo which shows the HomePod setup experience on an iPhone.
"HomePod settings will be controlled using the Home app. It can be controlled by any device with the Apple ID used to configure it", says Rambo. "Siri can be invoked in HomePod with 'Hey Siri' or by tapping on the device."
The same setup method will be adopted for Apple TV and Whole House Audio.
