AT&T Announces Dallas, Atlanta, Waco as the First Cities to Get 5G

AT&T has announced Dallas, Atlanta, and Waco, Texas as the first cities to get 5G.

We plan to offer mobile 5G to customers in a dozen cities, including parts of Dallas, Atlanta and Waco, Texas, by the end of this year. We’ll announce additional cities in the coming months. This is standards-based, mobile 5G we’re talking about. AT&T is the only U.S. carrier that’s announced plans to deliver this ground-breaking technology to its customers in 2018.

AT&T says it will add more 5G capable mobile devices and smartphones in early 2019 and beyond.

“After significantly contributing to the first phase of 5G standards, conducting multi-city trials, and literally transforming our network for the future, we’re planning to be the first carrier to deliver standards-based mobile 5G – and do it much sooner than most people thought possible,” said Igal Elbaz, senior vice president, Wireless Network Architecture and Design. “Our mobile 5G firsts will put our customers in the middle of it all.”

Mobile 5G deployments this year will be based on 3GPP standards and operate over mmWave spectrum. Eventually the technology will be deployed on additional spectrum bands.

The way we are implementing 5G in the initial deployments will also seamlessly integrate with current LTE technologies using the non-standalone configuration outlined in 3GPP release 15. The equipment we are deploying today on our LTE network will allow us to easily migrate to 5G.

AT&T also announced plans to virtualize 75% of its network by 2020 having already reached 55% in 2017.

Ultimately, the company expects to reach theoretical peaks of multiple gigabits per second with much lower latency rates. More details at the link below...

Well I’m still screwed lol because I plan to keep this phone till they don’t push iOS updates. Ehh it’s ok with 5G being a new thing a lot of people would want it making 4G LTE more accesible and less populated. Heck I can even live with less populated 3G

I remember when they were giving condoms in schools to teach us about protection... listen just google where are the most babies born and you learn something new (spoiler alert! It's not in the west) ... they teach us being to many but not where is happening... and then we need people from other countries because who's going to work for our pensions. Propaganda!
