Multilingual European Culinary App

The application is a unique blend of European food product information, consumer report and translation assistance. Food Guide, designed by a publisher and food journalist, contains approximately 1,500 different foods in eighteen categories and three languages, making it a handy reference for use in any country.

The Food Guide app has proven a labor of love for the developers, publisher Michael Ditter and renowned German food editor, Ingeborg Pils. As world travelers with an interest in unusual and rare European food products, it only seemed natural to share their passion and findings with other foodies via the iPhone, especially since most items can be found worldwide in restaurants and import stores. In December of the same year, just two months after the launch, Food Guide achieved the status of Number One App in the Lifestyle category and placed twenty six of all apps in the Apple store in Germany. It was also featured in the Apple's "What's Hot" spotlight.

Food Guide is not a cooking app. Rather, it is a consumer guide which provides extensive information and review on gourmet European food products. There are nearly four hundred very detailed entries for various cheeses, alone. Everything is organized into eighteen chapters, which can be searched easily by users. All of the products have at least one beautiful photo and a star rating, indicating the enjoyment level of the product by Europeans. Five stars is an excellent score; one star suggests that a user may want to avoid that item.

Of course, one of the most unique features of the Food Guide app needs to be mentioned and that is the multilingualism. Products names are listed in five languages and described in three languages - English, German and Spanish.
