O2 has partnered with Apple to launch the iPhone today in Ireland.
iPhone combines three amazing products - a revolutionary mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and a breakthrough internet communications device with the best-ever applications on a mobile phone for email, web browsing, maps and search - into one small and lightweight handheld device.
The iPhone is being sold for 399 euro (8GB) and 499 euro (16GB). There are three plans currently being offered:
45 euro 175 mins, 100 texts*, 1GB data**, 15c/min voicemail
65 euro 350 mins, 150 texts*, 1GB data**, 15c/min voicemail
100 euro 700 mins, 250 texts*, 1GB data**, 15c/min voicemail
* Unused inclusive minutes and texts cannot be carried over to the following month ** Data use in excess of the 1GB allowance will be charged at 2c per MB excluding roaming *** Visual voicemail is not currently supported.

The prices are very high but 02 are aiming at the business customers who pay monthly contracts instead of the pre-pay users
