App Store Highlights IGF Mobile Award Winners

Apple has launched a new section on App Store highlighting nominees and finalists in the third annual Independent Games Festival Mobile competition.

It's no secret that sometimes the best and most innovative leaps forward are made independently. From movies to music to games, the independent spirit can't be tamed or quantified. The independent Games Festival Mobile honors the brightest and most exciting games created by developers who work outside the mainstream and are committed to creating the best experience possible. Four of the five category winners in this year’s event were developed for the iPhone and iPod Touch platforms, including:


Technical Achievement: Stair Dismount
Stair Dismount is a 3D ragdoll simulation game featuring the indestructible Mr. Dismount. Push Mr. Dismount down the stairs for maximum damage! Experience somersaults and barrel rolls in convincingly accurate 3D physics simulation.

Audio Achievement: Lilt Line
Lilt line is a retro rhythm racing beat 'em up action game with a dubstep flavour!

Achievement in Art: Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP (Superbrothers, Capy, Jim Guthrie — Unreleased)

Best iPhone Game: Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor
Players must spin webs, trap bugs, and unlock the secret of Bryce Manor.
