hey james, i don't think it really matters if it's one finger or not - no one's gonna be holding their phone using one finger - almost everyone will be holding their phones like in the videos when they talk - and that ultimately drops the signal for all the phones including the iphone 4.. so i still don't get what the big deal is. every phone has this flaw.. yea those engineers need to get over it and come up with a fix and i ain't just talking about apple

i'm wondering how Mr Steve use his Iphone 4 to make call? The most curious thing is "how is he going to hold the phone?" True is that when there is a problem to solve, Apple didnt really solve it BUT telling bullshits thing to cover their own ass! This is the end of Iphone on the trust to their customer! Really full of CRAPS!

By the nokia or samsung has to be in the outside area not inside a room were you only see the phone and a hand holding it, has anyone heard of signal jammers they work in a way where signal drops step by step ... i dont use nokia or a samsung, no matter which way i hold my blackberry i never had such problem. I your product has a problem admit it dont be a cocky and say return it if u dont like it. From a consumer end i think there should have been more respect to consumer rather than giving away a free $1 BUMPER (cost to make) which does not even protect the phone.

Not all Toyota cars had break problems, but that didn't stop Toyota from doing a mass recall to stop anybody else get killed, point is .. there is a real and true problem and design fault with the iPhone 4, this has been admitted by Apple even though they have admitted it by blaming other mobile phone manufacturers to try and deflect the issues away from themselves. Of course not all phones will have this problem, but by admitting the problem is there they should now address it, not by giving away a rubber band, but by giving all iPhone users the choice to take their phone back for a modification or replacement, its up to the consumer then, not Apple .. and not all the "my phone has no problem" people that are quick to shoot anybody down with the problem that is at best irritating and at worst could potentially cost people a lot of money

Ok im going to agree this has gone to far your showing videos of phone with the death grip covering the antenna with the whole hand....No one holds there phone like your making these videos however the iphone four some people do slide a finger over that area and you drop a call. Im an iPhone 4 user and as much as I want to take it back I wont because I love the phone itself and the os is great....when its jailbroken. I will deal with the problem but if you were smart at all Jobs this wouldnt be happening. You said you want to make us all happy but a free case or our money back isnt making us all happy some people like me would like you to stop making videos about others phone to make yourself seem better. I mean the phone does drop close to 1 more call then the 3GS. Others want their case and for you to stop makin videos. I want you to stop making videos, and fix the problem. I have talked alot of people into buying this new iphone but they simply wont WHY U ASK? Because you wont listen to experts outside of apple that say it can be fixed but yea ok ill deal with it til september.

Show the same thing where signal degrades with one finger on the Nokia? or that ALL bars are gone and the phone drops the call. Thank you very much!
why so much hate?
why so much hate? - July 21, 2010 at 5:12am
all apple has shown the world is that other phones are also susceptible to this death-grip issue. why so much hate? is it mudslinging? well sure it's a form of mudslinging, but it's more like they're comparing themselves against other phone makers. Basically they're just saying, look - we're not the only one having this problem. Other makers have this problem too. It's a bit unfair to just pin it to Apple just because their phones are darn popular. Not really a fanboy but just didn't really understand why so much hate against Apple showing these ads to the world...

Not sure if you were expecting a reply, but here goes. I do not hate Apple (or anyone else for that matter), and I am not amazed or dissapointed that the phone has a fault. It's the nature of the beast that modern technology has faults due to it's complexity and I accept that Apple has a valid point to show that other manufacturers can have similar issues. They are now labouring that point, by repeatedly stating that other companies goods are as faulty as theirs does not improve the quality of theirs. All that Apple have to do (and they mostly have) is to accept that there is a problem and reassure customers that they are working to rectify the situation. The added bonus of a gift (a case) was totally unexpected and appreciated. After watching the press conference the other day, my confidence and respect are restored, as long as they take the higher ground and cease these pointless "mud slinging" tactics.

No hatred but feeling disgusted! It is just like a doctor miss prescribed a young couple of having oral sex to create babies and YET the female didn't got pregnant. The doctor eventually putting an excuses example to the couple by saying : "Well you see all couple having SEX creates baby but same not everyone got the baby too"

Seriously Apple, enough with the smokescreens. This debacle has gone on long enough, you know there is a problem, we (iPhone owners) know there is a problem. Just slink away quietly, lick your wounds and come up with a solution. Stop pandering to the press with more sad comebacks that only serve to undermine your standing. I am not a fanboi, but I am happy to own Apple products but this could change if your PR antics continue to become an embarassment. For the record, I own an iPhone4. I paid £600 for the privilege. It does suffer from the signal loss issue, but contrary to what non owners are saying, it is not the end of the world and is not significant enough to spoil my enjoyment of the device. There, I said it. Rant over

After upgrading my 3G to iOS4 I have lost all wifi and now even my usually strong 3g signal is useless, normally where I can get full bars I am now getting 1 bar, and last night could only get a signal showing "E", and I know I am not the only person with this problem.

I know, I got the same problem. Every time I turn on iPhone, it doesn't detect any Wifi. What I do is, go to settings, turn WIFI off and then turn it back on. This fixes the problem but yeah iOS4 is buggy as hell.

The problem isn't in iOS 4 but in you phone guys... Iphone 3G ins't meant to run iOS 4 cause it's to much for the hardware...
Kroo
Kroo - July 21, 2010 at 10:36am
Well that's not strictly correct. ios4.0.1 for 3G is limited in its functionality so the hardware can keep up. For those with 3G ios4 problems, restore the phone, as a new phone (not from backup), then sync your stuff back. Conflicts with data backup files will cause these issues (more than likely a settings conflicts). The phone should run fine, only with a slight lag, if setup this way.
