iOS 5.0.1 Bug Lets You Bypass Passcode to Access Contacts, Make Calls [Video]

Posted February 20, 2012 at 6:29pm by iClarified
A bug in iOS 5.0.1 discovered by Safwan Saba and verified by iPhoneIslam lets you bypass a user's passcode to access their contacts list, make calls, and send emails.

In this video we discuss a major iOS 5 security flaw discovered by (Safwan Saba) that allows you to go to someone's contacts list to make phone calls, text messages, and emails even if the person has a passcode on their phone. This works for all iPhones.

To bypass the passcode you must open a missed call notification when the network is searching. This is accomplished by being in low signal area or reinserting the SIM card.

You don't need eject the SIM card to do this. You have access to contacts when iPhone losses the carrier's signal. This is a shame, Apple. Please, fix it on iOS 5.1.

It is still good when a wife wants to secretly check the husband's calling list to void any potential threads from the other female creatures.

It's EASIER if the signal is WEAK. Took me 2 tries. BTW via contact sharing it also allows to send emails...

Or, on an iPhone 4S, you can just ask Siri about a contact or to send/read a text message. Neither type of data is blocked despite a passcode unless you explicitly change the default setting and disallow it.

your right cause if u need to be in a area that doesn't have a network to connect to. you wouldn't get the call and if u don't get the call u won't be able to unlock the phone through the missed call notification. so it may be a flaw but a stupid flaw cause the network has to be searching in order to do so. by that time the person would have wiped there phone thru find my iPhone.
