Apple is still not informing EU consumers correctly about their warranty rights, according to EU Justice Commissioner Viviane Reding, reports DJN.

In a speech today, Reding said, "This case and the responses I received since I sent my letter have highlighted rather clearly just why the Commission cannot sit on the side-lines on enforcement issues," she said. "The approaches to enforcement in these types of cases turn out to be very diversified and inconsistent at a national level. Apple was recently fined 900,000 euros in Italy for selling customers AppleCare without informing them that they had two years of warranty coverage as required by law in the country.

Ms. Reding says that lawsuits against Apple have also been filed by consumer associations in Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg and Portugal.

Notably, we just reported yesterday that despite moving to a two year warranty in Australia, Apple is instructing its employees not to tell customers.
